P1000 Upgraded low gear Replacement

Hi all! It’s been a while since I’ve been on the forum. As the topic says, I’m wanting to go ahead and replace my low gear as well as put a lower reverse talon gear in. Has this been the consensus for a permanent fix? I read where Honda upgraded this design for 22 models. My low gear works, but grinds from time to time. I have some down time with this buggy, so thought I would go ahead and go in and replace reverse gear and replace low gear at the same time. Also, does someone have the part numbers needed for this replacement with the lower talon reverse? Thank you

I think he might be referring to Pioneer only, the Talon ratios show to all be the same. Even the 2 large final gears in the sub trans are the same teeth count. When I checked I thought both the Talon and the Pioneer got a lower high range gear in the sub transmission in 2022 the smaller of...

Pioneer Talon Revers Gear parts with the newest updated parts as of last year.
I haven't checked to see if they have newer parts out. But these are what i ordered last year.

In the future always order OEM parts from ronayers.com or rockymountainatvmc.com. Every part is usually 10-25% off plus free shipping and sometimes no tax depending on where you live. If your gonna pay full price, you might as well go to your local dealer and spend some money.

I have found both of them to be about same low cost when going OEM. Been buying a lot lately - I think Ayer’s is lower but charges shipping, The others have free shipping but a little higher cost - seems to be a wash. All good suppliers.

I always buy enough from ronayers.com to get free shipping and they don't charge me tax. Rockymountainatvmc.com you can spend less to get free shipping but they charge me tax.

I would look over you list and double check as i would hate to open the Subtrans and start the rebuild and then have to order more parts.
Make sure you look at Part #3, #6 & #8 these are a must if you are having popping in an out of gear low and Reverse.

I didnt see the #3 part on your list. You did say that low would slip? #3 & #8 as a pair for Low jumping / grinding.


If so I would get the "Guide FinalLow shifter".

Low isn’t slipping, it’s just grinding sometimes going into low and then occasionally will pop when taking off in low.

Not sure if someone makes an updated gate for the shifter for a P1 like we have with talons to fix that issue? If someone does, that would help. Or maybe you just need a cable adjustment?

P1000 - Is it hard to fully engage LOW in your Pioneer 1000 ??

Like Remington said make sure the cable is adjusted. this will help ensure this keeps from happing.
