All I know is my Super ATV skid plate is f****in toughOn their site, Super ATV calls their skid plate's proprietary blend of UHMW and (something), "ARMW".
I reckon it's safe to say it is UHMW-PE mixed with some other plastic. MY guess would be HDPE (high density polyethylene - same material used in many plastic bottles etc.).
I'm not a materials specialist or engineer, though I know UHMW is the benchmark in terms of mechanical strength, abrasion resistance, and low friction. A blend may reduce material cost, make the resultant plastic easier to plastic weld or even mold.
No offense, but if I were gonna remove my stock aluminum skid plates, I'd be going for virgin UHMW. Companies reprocess UHMW scrap into new UHMW sheet, claim it has the same qualities as virgin material. I have no experience with that . . . however, a lack of experience or first hand knowledge has only rarely prevented me from forming an opinion, however wrong my opinion may be.
