Does any one have the info on setting the valves? I have had many air cooled VW's and spent a lot of time adjusting the valves. I plan on doing it my self. Thanks

Now that we have specs, does anyone have the procedure? Scanned FSM pages?

Done it a million times on my old Foreman, but a quick glance at one at a dealer and i didn't spot the usual "plugs" for timing marks and engine rotation. Didn't get much of a look though...

Remember to use feeler gauges on BOTH valves if the rocker arms are forked.

Thanks everyone for the quick replies. It would be nice to have the procedure also. I guess while I am at it would be nice to have someone do it for me. (LOL)

It has 4. There is another set on the other side of the spark plug.

I have noticed the service manual is kinda brief on a few things. Its almost like they were in a hurry with it.

2 bolts, 2 rocker covers = 4 bolts.

Yes, first service is due at 100 miles or 20 hours. Do it now, before you go to bed!

Maybe I am dumb! Which is intake and which is exhaust? I guess you could rotate till one is loose and one is not. I guess the loose one would be the intake.

The 2 on the intake side are both intake, the 2 on the exhaust pipe side are the exhaust.

The ones shown in the pictures are both exhaust, you can see the muffler pipe cover.

My issue is always finding Top Dead Center on the compression stroke and getting the (T) mark to stay in the window. It always wants to go past.
