Just installed a pair of red 14" 350lb Viper coils on LE Fox shocks. I ordered the springs on Amazon and they even came in red to match my LE suspension. The springs were $85.

My stock springs were struggling after adding rear rack, spare tire, gas cans, cooler and Alumalite top. I had my factory springs set at 1.75" (see picture) and the progressive coils were fully compressed. The rear suspension would bottom out with the bed loaded with gear and the cooler stocked.

I set the Viper springs at 1.5" and regained 1.5" of ground clerance. I am now at 13.5" between skid plate and ground. Adding 200lbs to the bed, in addition to all of the other stuff, drops me to 12.5".

I wasn't able to use my spring compressors, however I was able to use tiedown straps. See attached pictures. Make sure you know how your ratchet straps work and avoid an abrupt release. The installation only took about 2hrs.

I also used the tiedown straps to adjust the springs. If you install the straps with the suspension compressed and then jack up the body the spring will be loose and the adjuster can be spun easily after backing off lock nut.

After changing the front springs on my 814 (Viking) shocks to 300# Eibach and moving the original 350# springs off the front to the rear on the 814’s the ride is much improved. I still have the additional ride height and clearance. If I wasn’t carrying a bunch of weight (tool boxes and spare tire) in the back I would get some 275# Eibach’s and run 275 front with 300# rear.

What is the stock spring weight? I do not have any extra weight on the machine and it seems stiff might want to try a lighter spring.

No idea what the OEM springs compression weights were, but when I installed the 814 shocks on my P1k5 they came with 400# rear and 350# front springs. The shocks were an improvement over the stock shocks. As mentioned in an earlier post, I have since changed to 350# rear and 300# front springs. If your machine is the deluxe model, you have load leveling shocks on the rear.

Just put the Q3 shocks on. I’ll have to research what they are from fox.
There was a very informative write-up on springs for fox shocks awhile back. Go to the Forum for P 1000, then go down ’til you find Pioneer 1000 Accessories and Modifications. Go to the P 1000 New Springs on Your Fox Shocks. P1K5Dave did a nice job explaining what he did to fix his ride.
