I have ordered a P 1000-5. I am curious as to the weight distribution between the front and rear tires. Is it 50/50? 60/40? In other words, is there more weight on the front or rear of the unit?

Rear, not sure on % though. I'd guess 40/60. 2 pioneer 1000-5 on a 20' car hauler will sway, have to turn the rear one backwards.

that would depend on trailer, and if you can get the desired 15-20% tongue weight.

Just got a single axle utility trailer 12ft in length X 73” inside fender to fender. Should the pioneer “engine” sit right above the axle or does it need to be a little past the axle? Towards the tongue. I dont believe running the 1K5 all the way to the rail is a good thing, too much tongue weight imo. Thx guys.

I have a 6x12 and run mine up close to the front rail, maybe within 5”, trailers perfectly.

I bought a 300# shipping scale for reasonable money and use it to set my tongue weight. I have a class C motorhome with a meager 350 lb. tongue weight rating. Wanting a cushion, I set the Talon at 250 lbs. It tows well down to 200 lbs. so I’m comfortable with those numbers.
Although not a P-1000, they’re quite similar in layout, this is how it sits with 250 lbs. on the tongue of my 14’ - 850 lb. trailer. Trailer alone had 129 lb. TW.
Adding 2 spares and a 54 lb. bed extender only moved it forward a few inches, check the distance between the fender and rear tire - still 250 lb. TW. (The red one was stolen
