P1000m5 What did you add to/do with your Pioneer 1000 5 today?

Okay, I’ve had this machine for 10 months. Finally took it out on a trail last Sunday. Splashed through a couple of minor wet spots and heard some rubbing on a couple of rocks. This just confirmed that I need a ’real’ skid plate. So lo and behold SuperATV puts a deep discount on it and one showed up at my house Saturday.
I started installing it this afternoon. Awww, look at that mud! It was clean up until last week.
Now I know all you guys like to flip them up on their side, or hoist the nose in the air to make installation easy, but not everybody is blessed with a 12 foot ceiling in their garage. I had to settle for 6x6 blocks under the wheels.
So there I was, on my back, holding pieces of skid plate up, drilling holes, driving screws, getting mud and chips in my collar and up my sleeves, in my hair, all while trying to see things that are closer than my old eyes can focus on.
One handy feature of the SuperATV skid plate is that it’s packaged inside a two piece cardboard creeper. Of course, you guys with the high garages wouldn’t know how convenient that feature is.
I got about to 70% complete and called it good for today. Planning to finish it up tomorrow, might even get a few hours of hunting in after. It’s muzzleloader season and I still have one more tag to fill.

I used a clothes line post and a couple of come alongs to get under mine back in 16, tilted it right up on it's side.

Buuuudy. Cardboard creeper?!? I LIVE on those around here! Builds character my grandpappy would say! Lol Then again most of my stuff is high enough that sliding under on some cardboard is much easier than putting it up somehow.

Little known fact, that poor excuse for a “performer” Cardi B named herself after working in a cardboard factory.

Skid plate is done. I’d have to say it’s a good piece of kit. It looks to be bulletproof. I highly recommend tipping the machine somehow to do this job. Scooting around underneath the machine to install 57 fasteners is not on my list to do again.

Nice shell, you'll like the higher profile if you ever throw a cot and sleeping bag in the bed........you can actually set up on your cot to get dressed. That fuzzy liner will help keep it warmer in there also. One thing i did notice is you might need a few more camper clamps though LOL .....

Ready for winter! I took advantage of the club store’s Black Friday promotion and amazingly enough the Denali Pro shipped Friday, arrived Monday and was installed today... probably the quickest thing I’ve managed all year! I knocked a bit of wind drifted snow off my gravel entrance road and actually can’t wait for the next storm ❄️

Well I didn't add it today, three years ago a CEC cheap enclosure. When it's cold/raining it's great, just a bunch of snaps. I trailer with it on, no issues. Came in handy at the cabin this weekend, temp range 18*to 36*. It was great!

Added a Rough Radios intercom system to my P1K5, just 2 headsets to be able to talk with passenger, it has Bluetooth capabilities to connect to my iPhone for phone calls/music. Also has an “aux” input that I use for a radio scanner. It has great audio, vox, a little spendy but it cuts down on the noise in the cab.

Yes, door hinge bushings, adjusting the little rubber door stop and installation of the rubber door seal virtually eliminates all door rattles .....

Added a 17” rear view mirror, removed the rear passenger safety bars from the bed, put new HD SATV tie rods and SATV front and rear arched a-arms. Waiting on the UTV801 windshield and Mudbuster XL fender flares to arrive.

I finally installed my SATV flip up windshield that I've had for months... Hasn't been cold enough much to motivate me to installing it! Wife is a happy driver now... (I haven't told her about the dust issue yet... it's been raining every other day here on the farm...
I did tell her that SATV makes a hard one for the rear too that we should get... Think she's gonna "surprise" me with it for Christmas... 🥰🤣
I was able to even use my same mirrors with it after moving them around a bit... side and rearview both... My custom aluminum top interfered just a bit, but I was able to make a simple mod that allowed me to tie the upper mounting bracket directly to the mounting block used for the top. It came out real clean. Will try to post pics this evening when I get home if it ain't too dark...

Just installed the plug and play signal, license plate holder, horn, and hazards kit. Been talking with South Dakota Motor Vehicle Department to get the registration steps to license it for Arkansas. The person I spoke with says that UTVs, ATVs, and Four Wheelers are not considered farm vehicles and therefore are not exempt from tax. However, I read them the exception rule found in Section 32-5-1.4 which states:

Current with changes from the 2022 Legislative Session
Section 32-5-1.4 - All-terrain vehicles used in agriculture exempt
Any three-wheeled or four-wheeled all-terrain vehicle using a highway ditch or crossing a highway to get to and from a field or pasture and being used in the course of farm or ranch labor is exempt from the provisions of this chapter.
SDCL 32-5-1.4
SL 1985, ch 242.

The lady told me that it was absolutely ridiculous that ATVs, UTVs, and Four Wheelers were considered farm vehicles in Arkansas and that they absolutely were NOT exempt from tax in South Dakota. Even after reading the exception rule, she still stated that I would have to pay sales tax in South Dakota to license my UTV.

I registered it in AR as a farm vehicle, since I do own and operate a working cattle farm and use it primarily for farm use, and therefore it was exempt from sales tax. Has anyone else registered and licensed their Pioneer in a different state that recognizes farm vehicles as tax exempt and allowed you to license it out of state?

@ARDilbert I’m curious and a little confused on what you are trying to do.

Here in South Dakota, what you are referring to are two different things.

An atv , 3 wheeler, or utv are subject to sales tax. As a farmer you could deduct that tax/ cost of machine as a business expense.

As a farmer, you are not required to license the vehicle as long as it is used on your property, or driven in the ditch adjacent to your property. It can be driven across a road, but cannot be driven down/on the roadway.

Now if you buy a vehicle and want to
License it to drive on the roads, you still have to pay sales tax on the vehicle when you purchase it. In addition, you would have to pay for the license plate.

If the vehicle is properly licensed in another state for driving on the roads, and South Dakota has a registration agreement with that state, you would be OK here.

If it isn’t licensed , then you would have to show proof taxes have been paid on the vehicle or pay sales tax on the vehicle here before it can be licensed to drive on the roads.
