@Smitty335 hard to hate on diesels when you are comparing to an early 80’s model. You realize that was almost 40 years ago right. The gas vehicles back then weren’t as great as they are either now. Haha.

Very true, but if he ever got water in a current day Ford fuel system and had to shell out $12K to get it repaired on a denied warranty (which happens) we would never hear the end of it. Still wished I never let go of my '99 7.3L, at least you could work on it yourself.

Yup

3.7 liter NA reliably puts out more power than most 5.7 V8s did in late 90's.

Turbo 3.7 are reliably putting out about what diesels did in the 90's, and more power than NA @5L motors. With a tune they are reliable at 450hp/450ftlbs which is a little less than what my 460 bored and stroked to 493 (@8.1L) was putting out and it weighs about half as much getting 23mpg on hwy.

Diesels today are nearing the 1000ftlb mark from factory.

BIG difference in 40 years, you wouldn't compare a Model T to a 60's era car.

I put the fass fuel system on mine already. It should do a much better job of filtering the fuel and catching water.

I bought a Ford 1 ton diesel back in 86, every 3 months had to sand the drive shat of apply grease so the throw out bearing so it would slide, I complained, no response from FORD, after 2 years the floor busted that the clutch cylinder was bolted to, and they had a kit to fix the issue. No SH**. This was a warm weather truck only. Run # 1 diesel and additive at 25 degrees and above 40 MPH it would gell every time, carried extra filters and small can of diesel with me at all times, I hate diesels, had 2 of them, same results. Pieces of sh** . I think every one should own a least 1 diesel.

Sorry to hear that.....not typical for Ford for sure. Was a GM / Chevy guy for years but couldn't get them to last.

I'm on my 4th F250 diesel 4x4. All of them have gone over 250,000 with no major mechanical issues and still ran like a champ when we got rid of them.

Current truck 2003 6.0 with 290,000 and runs as good as the first day. Normal maintenance and rebuilds the starter, replaced the radiator and the HPOP. Other than that brakes, shocks, power steering hoses and serpentine belt.

I'm amazed still has the original starter, u joints, transmission, axels, etc. and still doesn't leak a drop of anything anywhere.

Wife drives a 2012 F150 3.5 Ecoboost King Ranch with 80,000 no issues and that thing runs like a stripped ass ape.

I'm thinking about a new F150 diesel when they finally get it released.

That's right! I can't stand the smell of diesel, you guys take different shoes with you when you refuel. Seems like when you go to a truck stop( always the freshest fuel ) the concrete is saturated with diesel and you get back in your truck and the smell permeates. When I fueled my rigs, I went straight home and took a shower and never wore my shoes inside. HA!

Aren’t you a Plumber? I’m sure some of your daily smells are worse than diesel... lol

Fass fuel system?

Secondary pump and filter systems. Maintains more consistent pressure on your cp3/cp4 pump. Also filters the fuel a lot better than the factory filter. I actually deleted my factory filter because it was a pain in the butt to change out. I have better filtration before it anyways now.

I did that also, helped, the mechanics at my father in laws dealer ship told me the only way to get around in the winter was to add gas to the diesel, I never did that, good way to blow the heads off.

One cool thing about the Nissan diesel was it had a manual fuel pump to purge the air out of the filters.

Toyota B (4 cyl) and H (6 cyl) series engines do as well. Very handy for bleeding them

How much oil do they hold? The Nissan 11 quarts with filter change.

My 13B-T (4 cyl) holds 9 I think and the H series is a couple quarts more

Must be union! Lol
In Arkansas? HA! Right to work state. The only union I know of is in FT Smith AR, I'm not against unions but with how competitive it is around here, it would be hard to get jobs if you were a union shop.

Well before my stroke I had a 2012 Ram 3500 Mega Cab Dually Diesel. After my stroke, having decided I couldn't do what I used to, we sold the dually and bought a new Ram 1500 Laramie with the 3.91 gear and HEMI 8 speed. It does very well with the pioneer on an open 6x12 single axle trailer.

Sorry to hear about the stroke! My Toyota is rated for 10,500 towing, thats pretty hefty. If I was pulling a 30 foot camper/toy hauler I would have a dually diesel, Don't tell anyone else here though. HA!
