P700 What other REAR shocks fit?

Hi, a while back I did the Can am commander front shock swap, it made an amazing difference. The rear can am shocks were leaking oil so I did not install them and continued to run the stock rear shock with a spacer. Does anyone know of any other shocks that will fit the rears? there are a lot of rzr shocks for sale online, I searched for answers on here and only found that 2013 rzr 570 rears will fit the front of a 700. I don't have the money for Fox or Elkas but knowing what fits may help me while searching. The Can ams are too hart to find.

new can am shocks which no springs are about 160 pair. Just use the springs off the ones you have that are leaking

You can always use a set of front shocks from a Honda pioneer 1000 to help

Which p1000 shocks? I'm looking at doing this for my 2015 700-4 and there seem to be so many variants. P1000-3, -5, LE, Deluxe. Is there a parts number that we should be using on for the 700-4 conversion? I have been using rockmountainatv to lookup.

what is it about the 1000 shocks that make them better? Are they that much better than the commander shocks that make it not worth while to just buy the new commander rear rear main shock. Just curios

All the 1000's front shocks are similar. If you are changing all four corners, order a pair of adapters from RB3; just cut them to length .

Longer power stroke, possibly different valving, heavier springs. As compared to the stock shocks on my 4 deluxe. No more front end bottoming out! All around better ride and control.

I understand that they are probably better than stock 700 shocks. Does anyone know if they are an upgrade over the can am commander shocks? He already has the spring and retainers for those and only needs the valve body which is fairly cheap. My curiosity is because people are still referring him to the p1000 shocks.

My research in comparing the Commander shocks to the P1000 revealed 3 main differences.

1.) Commander shocks had slightly less than 1" more travel and 1" extended overall length.

2.) Commander shock springs were lighter in compression weight. Front Commander shocks averaging 160+ lbs. vs Pioneer at 200 lbs. Rear Commander shocks roughly 200 lbs. vs Pioneer at 260 lbs. Lots of variables involved in how these measurements can be taken, so my numbers might not compare to others. I just used them for comparison. I will add, there are other heavier springs available for the Commander Shocks up to 275 lbs.

3.) Most notably, the Commander Shocks were gas charged.

I was under the impression that the commander shocks were an upgrade over any of the honda shocks. That is why I went with them. They are defiantly a big upgrade over the 700 shocks but didn't know as far as the 1000 shocks.

I love the upgrade to commander shocks. That being said, If the 1000 shocks are better I will look for a set. Has anyone tried both options? If so what is your opinion?

Well I guess what I am taking from this is with the commander shocks having more travel and a softer spring they would still give good bottom out resistance while also giving a good trail ride. I think riding 4 up the rear springs would need to be increased with the commander shocks. High speed hits (shock speed ) not mph seem to be much better with the commander shocks. I too would be interested in hearing from people who have tried both. Would be interesting to see if Honda improved the shocks on the 1000 or just lengthened and stiffened them up

I have a 700-4 deluxe and used the newest version of the front shocks p1000-5 deluxe and really like them. Matching part number all around. Plus’s the bushing adapter for the front.

Just so I don't lead anyone astray, I DID NOT test any of the shocks assembled. (To lazy to make a jig to hold the assembled shock in the press. In hind sight, wish I would have done it.) Like I mentioned, the Commander Shocks are gas charged. In other words, they can return / extend to full length without the aid of a spring. I don't know how that would affect the overall compression rate of an installed shock. Maybe that is factored in by Can Am when using the lighter springs.

Well, I managed to get a set of low mile commander shocks for 320 delivered so I will know soon. I could not find a complete set of assembled 1000 shocks anywhere near that price. Thank you all for the help, comments, and guidance.

If you remove rear sway bar get a 19 inch limiting strap for the rears. If you leave it on it will be fine
