I never heard of this!

Most people don't. It's widely usedcby those who build race car engines. The idea is to expose the spark to the fuel/air mixture with the least amount of obstruction.

For me best free mod is removing that plastic cover under the seat pads that kinda goes over the head cover and air box. No more steam up the butt!!! Close runner-up removing sway bar. Best CHEAP mod--my adult beverage holders. $6.

Gotta say with snow ploughing not that far off the Reverse lever cancel mod is pretty good (any time of year), but specially for snow.
