I store mine in a Leonard Building, no electric to it , no battery tender. But I ride mine year around. Never had any cold weather start up problems.

They will almost always start, but definitely easier on the starter and the engine with lighter oil. Mineral 10-40 can get pretty thick.

Monday morning it was at 30 degrees in WV.
Ok..........that won’t affect the solar powered tender/charge controller.

I just bought a new battery and put it on my tender, but it never reaches the float charge. What could be the problem?

Also, thinking about moving the tender pigtail from the battery to the winch contactor. Should I attach the negative to the negative post or to the frame?

I’m not sure about that. Is it a .75 amp tender?

Either will work. I’ve installed a 10 position grounding bar on mine that I run everything from.

Its 900ma... which I guess is .90 amps?
That’s the electric one I use and mine gets to float. You know you’ve got a good battery and you’ve checked the tenders output with a meter presumably??

My meter's dead, so I'll do that as soon I get it straightened out. I know new batteries can be bad, but it cranks strong and starts within one or two seconds. But as soon as I get a good meter, I'll check battery and tender and go from there. Thanks for your help.

I think everyone's opinion on the battery tender is the best thing you can do. If you use it for plowing snow, I think it is important to make sure to have a fully charged battery after the continual use of the winch to lift the plow. I had alot of trouble with my 700 starting in the winter so I actually upgraded the stock battery from a 12 to a 18 amp/hr battery. The additional capacity has cured by starting issues along with using Rotella T6 engine oil.

Good luck with that, hope it works out because tenders are great. :)
