I bought Eibachs for the rear: 14" @325#. They only came in silver and cost $215 delivered total. I've seen some forum members find red shocks for $75 each, but don't know where. I use my machine the same as you, by the sound of it. I am 100% satisfied and good with the decision to install Fox QS3s all around. I'd recommend 300# or no more that 325# spring rate. I had talked to Fox sales, and got handed off to an engineer to answer my questions, and the engineer concurred with my need for the increased spring rate. I used a wall mounted spring compressor at an auto hobby shop that I have access to, but I'd guess most powersports shops could do it for a reasonable fee.

Thanks to all of you for the detailed input.

My journey just began, I ordered a set of fronts from Procaliber.com

I'm getting more comfortable with replacing the rears. Assuming I want to change the rear springs to a 300 or 325 lb/in non progressive spring, what is the best way to procure? Hate to pay for the standard Fox product only to replace the springs. Can I call Fox and have them build me a set with the different spring? Or do I just have to bite the bullet.

Also, any further advice on optimum spring rate for the rears?
QA1 springs from Summit. @snuffnwhisky recommended them to me and they are noticeably better than the stock progressive rears and much less than the Eibach.

My complaint was the same as yours ft end bottoming out.2016 1000 deluxe, put a set of elkays stage 3s on the ft over a year ago and have not touched them since. The thing about elkays is they will ask u how much weight you have added in accessories, and how many passengers you haul on a regular basis, along w ur dog and cooler full of beverages. Then they install the proper spring from the start. Before u install ur new shocks pull it up on a hard surface and measure the distance from the ground to the bottom of ur fender that way you have a reference of ur ride height.Have fun I still have my rear load levelers.

Removed my rear lift and installed the fox rear shocks today. Camber is a little positive but I'll drive it a bit before making adjustments. It should settle some.

Your rear shocks are on backwards. Reservoir should be towards the front. Under full compression like that your res will hit the brake line/arm.

I put mine on backwards also. Smashed my brake lines. I was lucky it didnt damage the reservoir. I replaced my brake lines and kept the smashed ones for backup.

I was torn on which way they went, seems like I've seen them both ways. I'll flip them, thanks for the heads up.

Being you rode just the front for so long I think I would be cool if you would chime back in after a few rides on the rear.
Ok, I have some seat time in now after adding the fox rear shocks. In addition i do not have a lift now, and have 30" tires currently at 13 psi. Waaaaay better ride. May be a combo of the foxes plus no lift, but body roll is less and driving across a field is much less harsh and bouncy. Smoother experience all around.

After adding 1.5" of preload to the shocks to set the ride height, I have 5 coils collapsed at the top like many others have. I had about 500 pounds in the bed plus two adults and a child in the front seat and the rear tires rubbed a few times. After removing 200lbs it didnt rub anymore. I will probably add 300# springs to the rear since I normally dont load that heavy, maybe a few times/year.

@JTW - Are you saying the proper way to install them is with the reservoir to the BACK IF you have a (HL) lift???

With the world falling apart - I'm not planning to drop a bunch of money on shocks, but I want to make sure I do it right when the time comes!!

Thanks!!

Yes.. they have to be flipped inward and as I recall the sides swap. You’ll also need washers on the the shock eye or the spacers will waller their way though.
