P1000 RECALL / STOP SALE: 2016 Honda Pioneer 1000, EPS, 1000-5, 1000-5 Deluxe Models

Yes, from what I can tell you are part of the recall. See if you can identify the problem and post some pics;)
I Called the dealership today to have them double check the VIN# and sure enough, mine is a recall VIN. No idea when Honda will send a recall notice. Said Honda will send letter directly to buyer with instructions for recall and fix. Problem stems from a few issues where door has opened while riding (i.e design flaw vs. user error). Not specific to any door. Not even sure if all new models need a new latch system or not? Dealership owner said he had 25 P1K's he can't even put out on the lot due to this problem. I will post more when I get more info. Does anybody else have the same issue? If so, what did dealership say to you?

Sorry to hear that Trizzle! If it was me i would ask them where they would like me to drop the doors off for service? lol If that didn't work, i would say let me know which hour of which day you would like to schedule the repairs...and ask "You don't mind if I wait while you repair it do you?" lol

I'm hoping to purchase within the next couple weeks. I'm not going to finalize any paperwork yet until I can take it home. I don't wanna be paying for a machine that's gonna sit at the dealer.
We didn't finalize the paperwork. Couldn't sign until stop sale is lifted so not paying anything yet. Just hoping to get it soon.

We didn't finalize the paperwork. Couldn't sign until stop sale is lifted so not paying anything yet. Just hoping to get it soon.
Yeah same here. I want to get mine ASAP. Everything is ready to go at my bank I just told them to hold off on until I hear something from the dealer. I've still got my P500 to ride until then so I'm not missin out on riding, but just wish they would get this lifted so we can buy our new toys!!

I got a call from Honda on Tuesday evening and they told me that my machine was good to go and to contact the dealer. Called dealer and picked it up on Wednesday!!! Very happy, dealer took care of me. Maxim Honda in Allen, Texas. Thank you Maxim and thank you Honda!

If you’re trying to purchase a Pioneer 1000, 1000 EPS, 1000-5, 1000-5 Deluxe but can’t due to this stop sale then you don’t have much longer to wait… Honda has just announced the the first round of repair parts are schuedled to ship to dealers by April 22 with another allocation scheduled to be shipped by April 29.

Along with sales on hold and machines taken off display, did Honda also stop shipping new units while recall in place? I ask as I am painfully waiting for a White Deluxe with 1000lb rear springs. I have no ship dates or anything to calm my nerves.

@Stauvo Honda is still shipping Pioneer 1000's. Just had another shipment roll in today.

Is your Honda dealer telling you that they don't have your release date? That seems odd if they are telling you this... Each dealer has a dealer order statement that's updated weekly with a scheduled release date for each and every unit they have ordered for the next 60-90 days.

I paid a $500 deposit last Sept. knowing white deluxe 5 would not be available in my area until after March. Well they called me a few weeks back saying they had a white one then said its a California model with softer 600lb springs. I ordered the standard 1000lb spring rate. They said they don't know when a standard white one will come in...but I ordered a white one for Spring...I suppose its no different than people waiting for Grey or Camo.

I just need to have face to face rather than the usual small talk updates when I stop in.

I can't believe it! I think I'm a bit nervous! I have been waiting for this since it was a rumor.
Today I found out that my White P1K-5 Deluxe is in transit and should be here next week!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:):):):):):):):):)

get a red one and for $289 shipped u can have your white plastics ask Jackal or search it!! seams kinda crazy to wait so long for a color when u can get so cheap and switch easy!! then sell red ones in a year for people breaking theres up and u could prob cover if not make money on your red ones lol

April 2, 2016: Honda has announced a “STOP SALE” on certain model year 2016 Pioneer 1000 side by sides. It is to repair a potentially defective front door striker on select, affected vehicles. If the front door striker breaks, the door could open unexpectedly.

Effective immediately, Honda dealers can not sell any new or used 2016 Pioneer 1000 (SXS1000) models within a select VIN range (see chart below). Contact your local dealer to find out if your VIN falls in the selected range if you’re planning on purchasing a new Pioneer 1000 and haven’t taken delivery of it yet. Once Honda updates their database, you will be able to enter your VIN# here and find out if your model falls into the affected range. The service bulletin including repair procedure, parts information, as well as warranty claim information, is forthcoming.
