P1000 2016 1000-5 used vs new?

Contacted a few Honda dealers. Their advertised prices do Not include destination, fees, and of course tax.

My options:

2016 p1000-5 Deluxe used private party with 3.5k of accessories and 1600 miles asking $15900

2018 p1000-5 Deluxe NEW $13,495.00 + 870.00 Freight + 885.00 Uncrating, Assembly & Prep +1,296.66 Sales tax + 4.00 Federal tire Tax + 47.00 One Year Off Road License + 499.00 Doc Fee = $17,096.66 Total

I keep going back to private party even though it is nearly 3 years old but has 3.5k in accessories and no tax?

I plan to add fox shocks later to any deluxe model since it’s rough riding rocky trails here. Does the deluxe need a full bottom skid plate like the LE or is that considered overkill?

Thoughts?

I'd put a full skid plate on any of the machines. I'd be interested in a list of accessories on the 2016 model because $3500 is a lot and they don't really hold their value. To me the 18 Deluxe sounds like the best deal

None of them are real deals IMO. 2016 is probably the worse because it's used and off warranty. Who knows what he did or did not do. The only three good options I saw was the Honda hard roof, tires/wheels and the poly wind screen. 1,650 miles; I think it's worth $12,500 at the most if in great shape and documented maintenance.

Looking at private party used vs new.

New benefits: Its new! pick what I want and I put the first miles on it.
New Cons: Price, tax (9-10% in my area) Accessories cost $$$. Dealer BS

Used benefits: No Tax! Some accessories included. Save $$$
Used cons: Hopefully owner took good care of it, private party price close to new but with accessories.

Look at @Tigermark add in for sale he has a very nice P1-3 for sale. And takes care of his equipment!

I left the dealer with the Honda roof and Honda side mirrors. I've since found I prefer riding without the Honda roof and would rather have the Alien Shade cover.

I added the Honda under dash storage and I like it. I skipped the under seat storage because I usually have car seats in the front so access is tough.

I don't have an interest in the bed mat or storage cover. I wouldn't use them.

The a-arm covers are a preference thing, I like my factory UTV guards. Aluminum probably works fine but I've been happy with UHMW.

I like my Superwinch Terra45, but if I had to do it over I'd really like to try the new Warn Axon 55. The Honda Warn winch kit will work well too.

I have a bed extender but I've never used it. I thought I'd use it some day for a weekend ride with multiple days on the trail.

I've purchased my mods a couple a month for 2 years now and I've enjoyed choosing them and installing them. The machine you are looking at would save some time.

I purchased a 2016 1000-5 for 10,000.00 OTD with Highlifter OL2 28" tires on aftermarket wheels. A stereo with speaker bar and a winch that doesn't function. Hours were 86 and miles were just over 600.

I'm based in FL.

I'm running Fox Shocks. A couple other guys are running 814 Shocks which are a similar price.

I just really don't get it, why would a person buy a rig like this and not use/enjoy it??? Looks great! The best place I can think of to look to see where it's been is under the seat and pull back the heat shield on the drivers side. Happy trails!

One thing to make sure is the true mileage. If I'm correct the 341 is to the next service. The only reason I know is a friend of mine just picked up a new 2018 and I argued with him that it had 91 miles on it, when it actually only had 9. Just make sure.

Has a custom metal hard roof and the rest is stock.

Looking for a windshield. I see Ebay has a 10% off coupon (max 100 off) so may go big and order fox shocks even though I need a windshield lol.

I’ve heard good things about Honda full windshield and super atv.
