Hi All,
Looking at private party used vs new.

New benefits: Its new! pick what I want and I put the first miles on it.
New Cons: Price, tax (9-10% in my area) Accessories cost $$$. Dealer BS

Used benefits: No Tax! Some accessories included. Save $$$
Used cons: Hopefully owner took good care of it, private party price close to new but with accessories.

What do you think of this private party listing?

I contacted owner and informed him of clutch and cabin heat recall. Dealer is going to do this before he sells. It is a few hours away from me but hardly any are for sale private party.

Where are you looking for used machines?
I would suggest Facebook Marketplace.
Look for "Honda Pioneer Selling Page"

I am anti F Book. But will check it out. I have been searching Craigslist...
That is common. I won't lie. But FB Marketplace is the new Craigslist. It helps keep people a little more honest. Especially when their name is shown.

Really hard to determine price on a national forum. I would say thats a decent price for my area. but not sure about yours. If you plan to add accessories then having them installed can defiantly be a bonus.

Agree, I rarely post on craigslist anymore. Everything goes on Facebook Marketplace first.

Seems like trucks and off road toys sell for a premium in the Southwest!

I really wanted a LE. But those are $$$. I like how the Deluxe has front locker instead of the I-4WD. I could always upgrade shocks later but that isn't cheap.

The winch wiring harness is included but NOT installed. I could prob install myself but have read it takes like 6 hrs? LOTS of disassembly!

This is where the LE models win, having the winch wiring harness installed at the factory!

The LE does not have a factory installed winch.

If you are considering a winch on your machine. @Hondasxs is having some amazing deals on viper winches. Might be worth buying one in anticipation of a machine. They don't go bad.

Revised earlier post. I meant winch wiring harness. ;-)

We've been checking the prices at Western honda in Scottsdale and it is showing a new '18 deluxe 1000-5 for $14100. I figured that was a pretty good price and worth the drive if we take the plunge.

Also the new ones should have the updates taken care of and there shouldn't be anything you have to worry about.

And like Neohio said they just run a ground wire back to the frame for the pre installed winch.

Nice Find! I see they have a 2017 1000-5 LE for $16,771 + Fees + Tax

I like the before Fees and Tax price, but would have to add 2pc windshield ($624) and hard roof ($563).

Then I like the PP price! lol

Not to deter you. But think twice about the Honda 2 piece windshield. Look into the superatv flip windshield. It is hardcoat both upper and lower. And way cheaper. Full list is $450.00. But with ebay running 15 & 20% off sales every now and then. You can save big!

If I end up buying a 1000-5 deluxe, i’m betting I will prob upgrade shocks at some point. I came from a 2013 Polaris RZR xp900 2 seat walker evans edition. Man that thing was smooth. Still in the family with 4800 miles. Has been pretty reliable, still on original belt!

Had to replace:
Ball joints $150
Rear radius rods $500
Voltage regulator - Recall! Which prob led to battery needing replaced after 4.5 years. $150

Have ridden in Yamaha Rihno heavily modded, suspension upgrades, tune, etc. Was a good machine but finding parts for upgraded a arms, longer half shafts 10 years later was a PITA!

Kawasak Trex4 - A solid machine but only seats 4 (comfortably!) could use more power and more suspension travel.

Reason I’m interested in pioneer 1k5 is Honda Reliability, 5 seats, 6 speed DCT. Front and rear locker.

Will prob be just me and a bud riding but can take family when camping and a few more.

I installed a KFI winch and mounting plate on my 17' 1000-5 LE by myself and it only took me about 3 hours. And I am by far no master mechanic.
