Do the bushings in the control arms need to be greased.

I have 4000 miles on it, trying to do any maintenance this winter not in the owners manual.

Bushings, no. Rear knuckles, yes. I added grease weeks to mine and you'll find wear after 1000 miles. Either grease them regularly or take them apart and coat them with some grease. Same can be said for the upper control arm bolts.
