Well done!
Everything except for what you’re after, don’t that beat all lol!View attachment 156002 Been getting everything ready at deer camp for the upcoming season. Lots of good looking mature bucks again this year. Got a nice surprise from a cam in our creek bottom which had a couple pics of these Aoudads. Had a Red Stag bull 2 years ago. Always interesting seeing escapees from high fence ranches.
That’s what we’re looking for, get him tied up for opening day and you’ll have it made.View attachment 156185 We have a couple decent bachelor groups hanging around with the bucks still in velvet, which should be shedding any day now. Had a visual of a drop tine buck last weekend while riding around the ranch. He is a stud but I’ll bet he goes underground during the season. Didn’t get that old by being stupid.
That’s priceless, well done!
Hang in there and you’ll reap the rewards.I finally got the trail cams out, a bit late this year. Work and the barn project have us behind on scouting. Although it really isn't going to matter.
Our deer herd is hurting in the UP, a couple bad winters in a row was hard on them, then add the increase in the local wolf population and it's taken it's toll. Bucks are rare and big bucks are almost non-existent. We're going on our 9th or 10th season of "No doe hunting" for archery or gun season along with antler restrictions, no bucks without at least 3 points on one side. A lot of hunters are giving up or going out of state to hunt.
I'll still be in the woods regardless, it's my therapyHang in there and you’ll reap the rewards.
Don’t I know it, rifle season will be here soon and I’ll be off for 8 days sitting in the woods. I call them mental health days!I'll still be in the woods regardless, it's my therapy
Good luck!Im going in the morning. First day in a tree this year. Dont expect to see much, but will be nice to be out. Trail cam that was down here quit so who knows.
Hog hunting is some pretty good fun, we took several out of Oklahoma last year. Good times! For us here in TX, hunting is now 24/7/365 trying to keep the hog population in check. Thermal scopes are helping. last weekend I got 3 at one stand and then hauled azz to this stand and about 15 mins later this group came in. When they left, 3 more were taking dirt naps.
