I've also read they've returned the I4wd to be more aggressive to help with bigger tires on the '22 model.

No, Wait for the 23.
Any idea when the 23’s will be announced? Blows my mind that they waited this long to start delivering 22’ models, most other manufacturers, including Honda have been announcing 23’ model lineups on various vehicles already.

Probably won't be anyone around in 23. I'd enjoy one now. They are an amazing trail machine!

Would I pay a lot more for a 2022 if I already owned a 21 probably not.
But if I was looking at new machines definitely pay the extra for the 22 the lower high range in the sub trans will be worth it, the all new gears that run quieter is extra benefit.

How much better is the transmission shifting? I’ve never really heard in real world
Talon no experience,
The 2022 Pioneer share the same gear change, everyone that posted on here posted about them said said they where smoother and quieter stands to reason they would work the same in a Talon.
I bought every gear in the transmission except fifth and compared 2020 against 2022, 2022 has different parts number yet they look identical my speculation is that they have a different machine finish that makes them run quieter hence the reason for a different number on the identical gear.
Also lowering the sub trans gearing will space the gears a little closer in the transmission contributing to the smoother shifts.

The finish has little to do with noise, subtle changes in gear geometry will.... pressure angle changes, tip relief, crowning, etc. Were the gear flanks ground on any other variants?
