I haven't done this modification but...

A few years ago this was a hot topic. There were several threads with detailed information on how to set it up.
Do a search in the 700 forums. Type in "dual battery" and you should find them pretty easy. Good luck.

I used 4ga wire that I bought from local auto parts store. bought 10ft of it. Used the 4ga from main battery to the isolator then from the isolator up to my secondary battery. Also used the 4ga for my secondary battery ground.

So I am only getting 8v on my second battery. It’s an Optima and it’s only about 8 months old. Any suggestions?

I am assuming that the main battery shows around 12.7 volts.

Where are you measuring voltage, maybe disconnect it, charge it and then check the voltage, could be a bad battery.

If the battery checks out it must not be getting a charge from the system, is there a battery isolator installed, maybe it failed.

Are you checking voltage with a meter at the optima battery post. If so what’s the voltage? Also what other kind of set up do you have? Is this your main battery and or only battery? Also what are you running off the battery

some can be saved by using a dumb charger for a while, they have to be charged a lot,if you are using more than the rectifier puts out regardless of how many batteries you are going to deplete it and that ruins the battery. the battery isn't a power source they only store what the rectifier puts out. you can get by a little when plowing or winching but you have to charge it every time with a house charger.

the optima I have bought four recently and two lasted 2 years and the others 3-4, and that was taking care of it right not discharging it to much any of that
