  2. 700-4
Update: you guys have already convinced me that I need a 1000. Thanks for all of the feedback!

I bet I already know the answer to this question but before I make a purchase, I’m going to ask anyway: anyone buy a 1000-5 and regret not getting a 700-4 instead? Or buy a 700-4 and regret not getting the 1000-5?

I’m ready to make a purchase and thought I had landed on a 700-4 but now I’m starting to wonder if I shouldn’t just go ahead and get the 1000-5. Power isn’t as big a deal as mine will be for light farm use and riding around our property but after sitting in both today, I do like the extra leg room in the front and back of the 1000. Just seems like such an overkill for our use.

If you have the money get the 1000. And I am saying this as a happy 700-4 owner. We have had almost 5 years of trouble free use out of ours but I do wish I had got the 1000. When I bought mine that extra $3,000 for the 1000 was a deal breaker.

Don't overthink it! 700cc single with a 3 speed transmission vs 1000cc twin with a 6 speed dual clutch and a high/low range
I bought a 700-4, had it for 1 year before I upgraded to a 1000-5 Quieter, stronger, better ride. Too many plus's to list

I wondered same thing after I purchased my 1000-5. Then rode in the 700-4 we have for work. I feel much better about my purchase. 😎. I gave my coworker a ride in mine and he asked our boss if he even drove them before he purchased the 700 🤦‍♂️🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Get the 1000.

Creative Accounting 101: You can then use the money you would have spent on the 700 for getting the many mods you will want…..
If you say it to the wife fast over dinner and drinks it makes sense. Do It. Do It Now!

Like others, I started out with a 700-4. Then 4 years later upgraded to the 1000-5.

My main complaint about the 700 was the way it tore up the ground whenever you turned. Due to the solid/locked rear axle. Chirped tires on hard surfaces when turning as well.

In addition, you always had to ride the brakes in order to go slow enough when checking cattle or hunting.

Now looking at the 1000-5, turf mode so it turns shorter without damaging the ground. The extra room is a big plus. Can’t beat the high/low transfer case. The 1000 is a lot quieter at all speeds.

Hope this helps your decision.

I will give a little different perspective. If I didnt have my atv would have never gotten rid of the 700. Plus I didn't need 3 sxs. Getting the 1000 didnt make me like the 700 less. I actually had more respect for it. Not because the 1000 is bad its not its great. You come to learn just how capable the 700 is and is great for tighter places but I have an atv also. That being said if you need 4 seats skip the 700 and go to the 1000. If you are going to do more road or gravel riding get the 1000. The 700 is great for its purpose

If you are a young family with kids on a budget that just want to get out and do fun mild trail rides, the 700 would be just fine.
But in reality, those young kids grow quickly as they do and you need the P1K5 and suddenly you do the math of what you spent and gonna have to spend and that budget is worse now than it was with the P7 you bought.

If you simply cannot afford a 1000, a 700 is a comparatively inexpensive way to get in the game.
The 700 has its good points. I REALLY miss not having a parking brake on the 1000. If you have to go through a lot of gates like on most farms and ranches having to open and close multiple times a day, day after day. You can just leave it in drive and just yank on the brake while getting out before and after closing the gate and not have to dink around in-out of park while you have to stop doing the open and close routine. Unless you are moving/towing real heavy stuff or on steep grades on a farm or ranch the 700 might be a better choice. On steep, difficult off road on trails the 1000 is far superior but I think on flat ground like hauling a few bales of hay, dollar for dollar the 700 is more practical.

Never said it dosnt have good points at which it does for a small percentage of people. Under powered for most and tight for a family eventually. You can always get a hillbilly brake for the P1😉

DO NOT!!! let the cost make the choice.
I haven't met an owner, who said "If I had only bought the cheaper unit..."

Get what you want going into it and don't look back.

I don't think you will find the 1000 to be overkill, but that's my opinion.
