Gonna build another one with a bilge fan in the side that moves a lot more air. This one works pretty damn good, two 10lb bags of ice lasted 4-5 hours. I just foamed the gaps in the lid of this one to see if it makes any difference. I've got less than $40 in this setup.

Also, I've been leery to my temp gauge ever since it showed 3 bars in FL and never even felt remotely warm. I've been in the garage for over an hour, machine off. Still showing 2 bars...

Hillbilly A/C needs a lot of ice to work well. I bought a little Rubbermaid tub that fits just about perfect in the bottom that I'm going to freeze some water in. Even the crappy cubed ice from the gas station is a 15-20* difference in this 95* plus heat.

I burped mine the other day (again) and I think I finally got all the air out the system. That forest heat is no joke. I got about 150 miles till my next service I think im going to flush out the cooling system and put some ICE COOLENT in it . I've heard its the way to go 🤷‍♂️

I tried a different setup with my Riigid boxes this go around for overland camping and didn't like it. I used some axle straps and smaller turnbuckles thinking it would be quicker and easier to loosen/tighten but it turned out to be worse than the long turnbuckles alone. They never loosened up but were a pain to get tightened. Looking into some smaller ratchet straps for version 3.

Also wanted to start sharing my GPS tracks here. You can pull these up in Orux/Gaia/etc. You can pull them up in Google Earth too.

We parked at Eagle Rock and then camped along the trail over the next few days. We covered over 200 miles, but my track is missing Wednesday and half of Thursday because I thought I had tracking turned on....but didn't.

Didn’t you buy the three piece skid plate for around $300 like I did? Installed mine last night and it probably will never see a ride. Not happy with it at all

Mine is 4 pieces and looks nothing like that. I paid $560 or so. Mine has been battle tested multiple times now and I wouldn't hesitate to buy it again. That one you've got looks like it isn't much better than the stocker.

Hell that one may actually be better for you playing in the mud. The full skids hold a TON of mud in the void between the side rails/frame, and I try to stay out of the stuff.
