Depends. On the crawler I find a setup that I like and stick with it. Racing I would absolutely run different preload depending on track type, surface, and how blown out it was.

I was going through the buggy to give it a run down after a few hours of running. I noticed a weird squeak that I attributed to dust in the bearings when I was driving it back to the house this afternoon. Found that the steering plates that mount on the hubs are rubbing on the wheels:

Track surface. Like a motocross track, you'll end up with braking bumps and holes in the faces of the jumps from accelerating. Super hard pack doesn't need much ride height where a super blown out, dusty track will need more.

Really cool little trail buggy. The rear shocks need probably double the suggested viscosity (30wt is what came with it, I am going to try 50wt). This ESC/Motor combo is awesome though.

Yep. At a big race it's typically two days. Qualifying the first day and the mains the next. If you only run one class you'll have a few hours between qualifiers to work on your machine and make any repairs/setup tweaks that you need. They'll usually do some track maintenance after qualifying, but if you are in the Pro A-Main it's typically the last race of the day and the track is pretty beat up. Usually makes for a really fun race since you have to change up the lines you've taken for all of qualifying.

I'd definitely recommend it. I think the hobby shop in New Orleans actually has an SCX10 raw builders kit on clearance. I'll check it out tomorrow and let you know if you want. Bringing the kid to let her pick out a body so we can paint it for her truck.

I want to say they had it for $169?

What is a "rock bouncer"?

Rock crawler - generally designed to go slowly/carefully/deliberately over obstacles not breaking anything
Rock bouncer - generally designed for "hold my beer"/WFO/make it or break/hammer down/pedal to the metal make it over the obstacle or drag the pieces/parts back to the trailer you failure

Okay...so maybe not exactly that extreme in the RC world but a bouncer is go over an obstacle with speed and let the suspension take the abuse vs a crawler slow and steady wins the race if you pick the right line approach.

Checked at the hobby shop when I was there today to let the little one pick out a body and some paint. They have the SCX10 III kit on clearance for $309 (from $369) and the raw builder kit was the regular old $199.

Kid picked out a Jeep Gladiator and some neon pink and purple paint

@Mopower58 I tried to get her to go with that Ram body but she wanted a Jeep

It would be great to see the step by step process on the paint job? So thats a brushed on paint?

Airbrush only for the paint. The liquid mask can be applied with a brush or a spray gun. I bought a cheap spray gun from harbor freight just to spray this stuff but couldn't find it. Used a foam brush to apply
