How big is the trailer, weight and length as well as tongue weight and what is your TV?
That Anderson will work, but there are other choices that you don't have to drill holes in the frame, some are more and some are less, before I got my ProPride I had the BlueOx and it is a great WDH but a bit more money.

I’m not doing it for the WD I'm doing it for the sway. I know it will get better when loaded. But I won’t always be loaded. And as light and large as the trailer is I think it will be helpful for that.

Have you looked that up?

RV & Trailer Towing Guides | fleet.ford.com

Read your hitch, its only rated for 5000lb trailer/ 500lb TW without WD Hitch.
Pg 37-38 go into more specifics.

Thats almost standard across the ½ Ton trucks (@Plumber32 I think the ½ ton ram can only tow a 500lb trailer without brakes and a WD hitch..:D:D:D)

Who would spend their own money on a 1500 when you have a 24' enclosed anyway? Cart before the horse !

If he had bought a gooseneck all of this would be irrelevant. The air bags, the topper, the equalizer hitch, the fold out beds. :(

An extra 12-15k upfront for a truck, then extra maintenance cost, diesel fuel cost, add an extra 10-15k for a gooseneck vs bumper pull.

If you’re going to use it EVERY weekend sure but if you only use it 10 times a year fully loaded WHY spend so much extra.

We have a gooseneck horsetrailer and pull it with a HEMI powered ram. The truck is all Stock except for running boards. No programmer, equalizer hitch, air bags,or topper/camper/bed cover.Maybe that eb is not all that without adding on a bunch of stuff.

The hitch is rated for much more. The bumper is what is limited to 5000 pounds.

I bet we paid less for our Ram than he paid for the Ford, obviously money is no object considering all of the add ons required. Our Ram came with a tow hitch, bumper is never used.

Bumper pull and gooseneck tow completely differently, they don’t make weight distribution hitches for gooseneck because they ARE the weight distribution hitch. The way they distribute the load, bags are less needed for the same pin/tongue weight. You don’t NEED the programmer but it releases more capability.

Topper bed cover is irrelevant.

Didn’t mean to get your dodge panties in a wad I was just giving plumber a hard time in fun.

Everyone has different uses and needs and any of the makes will work as a good tow rig...except Chevy.
