Ten miles into my first ride i tour a huge 4” hole in the sidewall of my 28/10/14 RipSaws. It was done by a loose rock on the trail. I was forced to replace the tire with a Rockabilly. Comparing the two tires the Rockabilly had a much studier sidewall as compared to the RipSaw. Has anybody damaged a Blkwater EVO?
They are pro ported to have one of the sturdiest sidewalls. Im lookin at 27/9 and 27/11 sizeing.

I have abused the Evos on 2 machines and maybe I’ve just gotten lucky but I have not hurt a sidewall or tread in 1500-2000 miles of rocks.

The beadlock rings are severely scared, gouged, and dented so I know they are getting abused.

We go looking for rocks not mud.

Everyone has there “worlds greatest______” and “ I hate this f’ing POS!!!” stories, so take my experience with a grain of salt.

The ITP Black Waters (EVO'S) were the second non stock set of tires I bought in the first 600 miles, haven't had a flat since, ride the rocks and pretty hard, I've got 1600 miles on them now, the lugs are pretty rounded off. I ordered a new set of tires by ITP, Tera Hooks, brand new design wasn't supposed to be released until 8/28/19, dealer called today and said they came in, I will pick them up and mounted 8/28/19, $ 175.00 + tax a tire and this is at a dealership, Freedom Power Sports, Fayetteville Arkansas 72703, That's where I got my rims and EVO's, ordered them one day and picked them up the next?????????? I have bead locks and yes they leak down after several weeks, I have been working in the yard and noticed the side wall bulging after I had loaded the bed full of crap to haul to the burn pile, checked the pressure after unloading to find out I had 0 air pressure in the tire, it was still standing up, that's why I bought my second set of ITP's, NO FLATS! They don't advertise as a run flat tire, but I know it would get me back to camp, taking it easy. And made in the good ole US of A!

I tore a sidewalk on 28/10/14 RipSaws. They completely collapsed with no air. Lucky I had beadlocks, drove out 9 miles to my trailer.

Not yet. And I’ve been on lots of sidewall eating trails. I do run rims which suck the sidewalls in a bit to help protect them.

I like running same size front and rear. Black waters are good but not invincible. Would recommend running rims an inch narrower than the tire. Or 2” is even better to protect sidewall.

I've had no trouble yet with my BWEvo's (maybe 500 miles), but the low ratio of land-to-sea makes me nervous with sharp rocks. Today I took delivery of a pair of 28-11x14 Terra Hooks, for my rears. I'll keep 27-11 BWEvo's on the front (they're barely 10" wide and have a rounded cross-section), but switch out the rears for soft (BWEvo) and hard (THook). Got my THooks from Trax Motorsports in LA (the state). They (THooks) are a rare beast, offering an 11-inch width with a 28" O.D. Since my P1000-5 has an extremely rear-biased c.g., I want the fattest tire I can get back there. I tried the QBT-446, but the undersized O.D. was a show-stopper. The un-inflated profile of the THook looks more like a Bighorn (wide and flat at the tread), but I'm sure they'll round off a bit with pressure, but not as much as the BWEvo's. I've got Method 406 8" rims on order for the THooks, "usually ships in 1 to 3 months", they (Method) said.
Tread-comparison pic attached, the QBT was pasted in, so scale is suspect.
