P500 Are KFI winches any good?

As part of the deal for purchasing my new P5, the dealer said he'd install a good 3500lb winch.

Paperwork said it's a KFI Stealth 3500 with synthetic rope. Never heard of them. Never used synthetic rope, either.

I have been running a KFI Stealth 3500 with synthetic rope on my P500 for 3 years now and it has been rock solid. Used fairly frequently never an issue. It's a great choice for your machine.

I have had the Stealth 3500 on mine for almost 4 years and would I buy one again? Damn right I would. Hope that answers your question.

From other post, rope fairlead included? Synthetic winch rope ?
Also check out wireless remotes, an easy add for about $15.

I have used the KFI stealth winches on my machines for the past 4 years or so. The Stealth 4500 on my Yamaha Viking, 4500 on my Pioneer 1000, the 3000 on my Honda Rubicon, the 3500 on my Pioneer 500 and soon I will have the 4500 on my Pioneer 700.

They have been in the muck (on accident) and worked flawlessly afterwords.
I winched my Rubicon up some very steep and rocky terrain on the Hatfield McCoy system with no issue. And that one was running the winch over and over in order to get to the top safely.
I winched a Toyota Avalon out of my ditch during a "snow storm" . Used a couple of snatch blocks but it worked just fine.

Those are just a few times when I called on the KFI winch to help me out. So far, I haven't been let down.

For what it's worth, I also had very good experiences with the Viper Winches from Moto Alliance. I haven't owned as many of those but their customer service was pretty amazing. (Again, it's been a while since I've worked through Motoalliance so things could have changed)

I’m trying to decide on a winch now. Hoping to stay around the 200 dollar mark. I’m thinking 3500 lb an synthetic. Will be using a KFI mount.

A few winches I’m looking at in no particular order: superwinch A3500 switching to rope 169.00 plus rope at tractor supply. Superwinch LT4000 (when it’s on sale) Superatv 3500 black ops. 199. Viper midnight 3500 210.00. Badlands 3500-switch to synthetic of coarse 129.00 plus rope and 20% off.

I know the superwinch terra 35 SR is pretty much the winch of choice and a top notch winch at that. But I’m trying to watch the penny’s. Got other things I want and need to do with the P5 and I have to do it in baby steps to keep the wife happy lol

On a serious note, why does everyone choose 3500 lbs?

My wife told me to get rid of the P5 or she would leave me!

Damn, I am going to miss my wife!

J/K....

We really should get Honda for false advertisement of the MSRP of the P5. It might be a 9k rig off the lot but it’s 20k rig time you get done with one lol

I can’t speak for everyone but for me it’s just about the ideal strength winch for the P5. It’s a 1000 lb machine say plus two riders an gear so we’ll say 1500 lb now. So 1500x1.5 getcha 2250 lb winch so tech a 2500 could be sufficient but most people including myself will go up one or two sizes in the winch. So 3500 lb winch just seems to be a sweet spot in the winch sizes for the P5. I may get a 4 or 4500 lb all depends on the price I can find. I’m shopping now. There’s way to many choices in the 150-250 dollar range. My heads literally spinning.

Let me know what you decide because I plan to add a winch soon. Like you, I must take baby steps but want so much.
