I have a 2021 1000-5 LE that I purchased used from an individual. He had installed many accessories including an auxiliary battery and associated equipment. My first mod that I have completed on it adding some rear backup lights and the auto backup switch sold in the club store. My question is, should the lights be powered if the key is in the off position? I can only get them to work when the key is either on, or in the accessory position. Is this normal or is there possibly something wrong with how the auxiliary battery is hooked up?

Thanks in advance, this forum has been a huge help for me!

I believe that the harness sold in the club store would use the factory honda wiring/ battery so would only work with the key on. The club does sell an add on switch/harness that would allow you to use the lights from the 2nd battery with key off.

The rear back up lights are working correctly if you used the club kit.

Awesome! Thanks for the help! I probably should have added, I did connect the wires to the auxiliary battery. Not sure if that changes any of your opinions on how my auxiliary battery is hooked up.

Welcome to the club.
The OEM connector for the backup lights ONLY works off the factory system, key-on. You can not easily change this.
However, we have spent the time to figure it out and designed what we call a work light kit.
This work light kit addon allows you to alter where the lights get power. It has a switch up front that allowes ON / OFF/ or AUTO BACKUP. You will need to hook it up to power up front. Like your second fuse box.

That is the kit that I bought. Hooked it up to the second fuse box. I'm wondering though if the second fuse box is only energized when the key is on accessory or the engine is running.

It looks like this is the kit that was installed FWIW.

No. This has nothing to do with a fuse box. This is an isolator. a connection between the 2 batteries to charge one and the other automatically.

You need something like a stinger relay. Or a better one like this. This then controls power to the fuse block.

There is also a stinger relay. I think this one...

Oh.. you saying you already have that... Yes, that controls power to the fuse box.
Yes, I do have the stinger. I'm guessing it is hooked up so that it only provides power to the aux fuse box when the key is in accessory or on. I think this answers my questions!
