P500 Battery/cold weather starting?

p5 would only turn over and sputter occasionally when temp was 29 degrees, but later temp was 45 degrees started right up and voltmeter showed normal charging numbers. Any ideas on why p5 would not start?

Battery health can’t be assessed by charging voltage.

How old is the battery?
What is the battery voltage at 29F before starting.

I know this is not the same problem.
My truck would not start at -11F, but would start at 26F.
Had to charge the battery to start at -11F.
The battery was over 3 years old.
Changed the battery and fixed the problem.

What was your meter reading before you hit the starter ? My 1k is seeing some low numbers on these cold mornings 11.5 1st reading dipping to 9.5 when cranking. But then she hits and everything goes up.

Battery is going on 5 yrs. Going to check it out. Thanks for the input. Voltage was a little low 11.9 but jumped to 12.5 after it started and I shut it off.

11.9v is a bad battery, but it might not have been fully charged. Charge the battery fully with a good quality ‘smart’ battery charger. Disconnect the charger after it’s full. Let the battery rest for an hour, with no load on it. Then check voltage. In cold weather a reading less than 12.5v would prompt me to plan on replacing it.
In warm weather a brand new fully charged 12v battery should be close to 13v at rest (no load, 1 hr after removing the charger).

Yep just purchased a replacement battery today. Dealer has heard there may be a battery shortage coming. Thanks everyone for your input was very helpful.
