Does anyone have any info or advice on the Buckhorn trails? Having become bored with Wolfpen and looking for a good fall OHV and camping trip with the fam (2+4). There is a campground (Whiskey Creek) that would offer direct trail access and a civilized place to clean up after a dirty day on the trails. We're looking at going the end of October before deer season opens if that matters for the complex as it does for Wolfpen.

Buckhorn is a beautiful area, It is one of the more remote trail systems in the area, make sure to bring gas and everything you need as it will be a little drive if you forget anything. There is a good Facebook group that regularly have post on trail conditions and maps of the trails.

Most people comment on how rough the trail system is. There is nothing hard technically there but the trails are mainly rock.I can’t compare to wolf pen as I have never ridden there.

leaves are starting to change here because it has been so dry… also note that there is a burn ban currently in effect with a slight chance of rain a week from now.

any specific questions I can answer

We have stayed at Mulberry (great campground) and ridden some of the trails around it but weren't really impressed. The pipeline trail was 'closed', and several to the north were almost impassable and were in effect one way, even with the creeks almost too deep to pass. We like challenging trails but good scenery and lots of rideable miles will also suffice. Buckhorn having around 60 miles reads like a good place to try.

I rode out Mulberry way this past weekend... definitely no water to worry about. When were you there? The pipeline is open ( main section of) there is an older section that is closed down. The blue loops is ok but the better trails are off Millcreek and in the national forest.

Not sure when you are going but we are suppose to get some rain starting this week but it is dry and the dust is bad in the area currently.
