You probably need to state some more info because I don't really understand what you're asking?

The Pioneer 1000 already displays what sub gear your in. The only way to display what gear (1-6) is to select manual mode.

I’m talking about the lack of visibility of markings on dash for lever position. All black, no contrast.

Paint them. Or you can buy a panel.

I took a white paint pen and painted the top of the markings. They stand out and are readable. You just have to be careful with the paint pen.
