Trans mount is done. Little bit of custom fab and sourced parts. But second gen trans is in. Not my normal so it took longer and kept second guessing myself. It’ll be very solid. Hoping angle is correct, and will wait to check clearances on front driveline and exhaust before paint.
With mount in can now run fuel, brakes and wiring to the rear.

Guy finally picked up the spare 4door cab today, Wolverine did I nice job of pulling it out of the back 40. Probably coming back for a few things. Turns out he’s got a few cool rigs, a Superbird and a General Lee Charger.

Ran into an issue with our adapter for the transfer case not working so ordered a new steel machined unit, expensive as all out but impossible to find and it’s much stronger then the cast factory unit. Shouldn’t have listened to the Cummins site guys. Going back to learning for myself not from the “experts” Screw it moving on

New 205 big spline transfer case here. She’ll handle the drastic increase of power thats coming. Just like the engine it’s gear driven, no chains in this truck.

And here’s where much of that added power will be coming from. 2nd gen HX35 is on the way. Arguably the most dependable turbo on the market. Boost will be much higher then the ‘90 donor engine had stock. Should be right at 875 torque, think it’ll give the newer diesels some competition considering there’s no torque management and being a manual it’s direct power, there’s no slop from the auto. Also picked up intercooler and moving to 3” boost lines for added power, throttle response and less engine EGT’s. This combination should still yield over 20mpg pulling the Pioneer and Wolverine, could easily go more but why?

Also got a new 2nd gen upgraded amperage starter. It’s a reman but direct from Denso not a cheap parts store crapper.

Been busy but waiting on some things to get back on track. It’s still moving forward regardless of what hits me,just want it dependable not some thrown together s*** show.

Brutal day today. Laying upside down airhammering and grinding factory plug welds. Pulled every cross bar in the donor frame and my crew cab frame then drill and bolt them all under the new truck. Some had to move over for the addition of the 4wd.
Replaced all of them so exhaust, bigger diesel fuel tank, anti-lock brakes as well as everything else bolts up like a factory diesel. About 160 plug welds between the two trucks needed cut then drilled and bolted back in so it’s been a lot of work but should be done tomorrow.

Donor truck. Nothing holding frame rails apart except for the cab

New truck. Going back in the diesel stuff

Each hole gets a 1/2” bolt (rather then the 3/8 plug)with lock nut, lock washer and LocTite red. 12 Valve Cummins tends to loosen s*** so since I’m not 100% sure on what I’m doing I’m going to overkill it some. Yet another 10 pound bag of grade 8’s

Thank you buddy. Sure seems slow but I’m giving it all the time I can.
CP,
What are your plans for intercooler piping? If you give me enough time, I can grabs some scraps of mandrel bent tubing and ship a box of them to you. If you take some measurements of the hot side of the turbo, I might have some adapters sitting around I can send as well.

Well there’s definitely less to choose from for 91-93 then next gen trucks. Here’s what I’m looking at. That intake elbow in the picture is the tough part, it’s expensive. Everything else is straight. Not sure on color, may or may not do that but this is what I have in the watch list.
I don’t have the turbo elbow yet either or down pipe dump. Trying to figure all that out too.

I did wrangle up factory 2.5” stuff with the intercooler I picked up (my engine was the non-intercooled version) minus that stupid elbow but it’s restrictive and engine temp would be higher at boost so want 3” setup.

Well the 2wd front end sold. So....

Turbo back 4in bought 5 minutes after. Had a few people say different but after talking to @snuffnwhisky and a couple other trusted guys I did go stainless. Couple other needed items are also on the way. Sucks to wait for something to sell to knock out my eBay list but I’m getting there!

Absolute props to the guy who hand make the transfer/transmission adapter for this 5-speed. Nice unit and extremely heavy duty! Was pissed having to but it but definitely light years stronger then factory.
Running gear can be completed now

The guy that made that is one hell of a craftsman!
Ya, Dodge shouldve built it like this. Same guy as I got my transfer case from. First one he built took him a week to get the design right and the tolerances perfect. He only made 4 this was his last one but still took 15 hours, said he won’t build anymore. I feel lucky because I couldn’t find a factory used one. Found one other guy that builds a two/ piece on cnc out of aluminum much cheaper but not putting that on my truck. I like full steel for the running gear.
Here’s the difference between cast stock , my stocky is auto but same as manual minus the much bigger bearing race that the manual requires for the larger internals. Auto transfer case will not hold up to the 5-speed.
