Somebody teach this old dog a new trick. Right rear inboard boot has a pinhole. I bought the OEM kit that comes with both (only 10 bucks more than single boot kit). Manual is a little misleading so here's my 2 questions....
1. Can the inboard boot be replaced without messing with the outboard?
2. Any diy tricks to installing new clamps without buying a set of those specialty pliers?
Thanks in advance for any help. I've never messed with a CV boot.

For a pin hole. Degrease it. Skuff it up a tad. Degrease it again. Let dry. And put some RTV on it. Smooth it out and it sit overnight. Will hold for a long time or so I have experienced.

The inboard. @ diff. Can be replaced alone.
If your careful. The clips can be reused.
A good pare if needle nose will sometime do the trick. I have also use a vice before to clamp it. Both a PITA.

Im sure someone else has a better trick.

I thought about doing this too. But I already have both boots, clamps, lock ring, and 2 packs of grease. May as well replace with new then fix pinhole as you suggested. Have it for a spare. Thanks for the help.

Thanks Joey that was helpful. Looks like the 1000 is easier to get the cage apart. Just a snap ring securing it to shaft. The manual helps but seems to contradict itself some. I'm sure it'll be easier once I get it apart.

Just call me if you need.

I have looked numerous times for the leak with no luck. Both clamps are still very tight. Still getting small amount of grease on arm guard after a ride down the road.

Will do. Probably start tearing it apart maybe Fri or sat. Wanted to ride Coalmont but that place will be downright life threatening after all this rain.

I packed too much grease in mine one time and when that CV collapses it will force grease out no matter how tight the clamp.

Did you use OEM pack of grease? That's what I have.

Not the time I over filled it. But when I use the packet, I use all of it and it’s not been a problem.
