P500 Damage due to NO skid plate?

Honda aluminum skids powder coated black is the plan someday. The Honda aluminum skid plates are only $339.

I don't think they cover the full belly though..

The stock skid plates should be fine for your type of riding. If you plan on rock crawling or riding creeks and such, I would do as many of us have done ,make your own skid plates from 3/8" uhmw material !!!

Source the UHMW Locally.
A 1/2” 4x10 sheet will run you $500plus.

PSA: Don’t try to heat past 230-240F to bend it, it destroys the molecular bonds in the plastic and it starts to crumble. Without proper equipment you can’t bend it past @15-20 degrees.

BUT you can buy a Trail Armor skid for what you can make one for, and it will be pre-made and have all the hardware to install too.

Honestly I didn’t pay attention and assumed a 1000 was getting skids from the other members of the conversation.

You’re right ⅜” will be fine for a 500, there’s a significant weight difference.

Like underwear, it’s best to have and not need them than it is to need and not have them. Those skids.... my UHMW Fromm SSS OFF-ROAD totally kick ass and have saved my ass on many occasions.

I also have the SSS Off-Road skids, they are pricey, you can't damage them and they fit the Pioneer perfectly.

If you find 4x10 3/8 sheet for around 300$ then , DIY is better and cost effective , since u can make 2 plates.

But if not, then SSS is next choice but look for overstock.com coupons and dont tell the SSS to price match they are greedy and will complain to the seller not to honor any coupons or discounts.

A rock might damage the machine, a stick thru the floorboard might puncture your body. Skids for either rocky or wooded terrain is money well spent.

UHMW or Aluminum, DIY or aftermarket bolt on? Kinda like Chevy or Ford question, to each his own. Went with full Ricochet aluminum here, most single expensive mod to date. Because of the thin plastic wheel well, sent template to Ricochet and they made two pieces of same aluminum material for inside the front wheel wells. Think it was around $25? Painted black and bolted to wheel well, may not be the best looking, but gives piece of mind. Thinking @trigger did a better wrap around approach.
