i put straight lucas in the rear i also notice that the diff was straight cut gears not hypoid i agree that light throttle rattle drives you crazy i think the design is causing the noise more that any thing. the lucas maybe helped a little i am going to see if 90-140 will absorb the tooth contact noise better i will post it when i do it baffles me why honda did it that way, probably cheaper since p 500 is an entry level machine.

Bel-ray recommends Saver Synthetic Hypoid Gear Oil 75W-90 in the Honda Pioneer gear cases. I've got some coming for this spring.

Good product Bel Ray. I've got it in the engine/tranny too.

The front diff and rear final drive are the same as the P700. That's how Honda saves so much money, sharing so much of the machine with others currently in production.

Mobile One 75-140 synthetic at 100 miles. 3/8 plastic tubing really helped with filling front and rear. Still have some noise, especially with the windshield added. May try heavier oil next change.

@jak9922, do you have any trouble with that weight in the winter? I haven't done my diffs yet but don't want to go too heavy if it's going to be a drawback in plow season..

if you were more comfortable running a lighter oil in the winter you could and then change back in spring its very simple and fast to do

I was more curious about if it gave you any trouble, i have no problem running it if it didn't. Just figured id check before i ran 140 and had to go back to 90 if it was too heavy for winter. Thanks for the feedback

How many miles is on it? I bought mine the month Honda rolled them out, it's so loose now there's no noise and shifts like butter. Of course I've got Bel Ray in everything now too. 75/140 for sure in the diffs.
