I had the Dragon Fire soft-top and it had it's ups and downs. The biggest thing I didn't care for, was that it had a huge gap in the front between the windshield and the top. I wish that they added 3 inches of material up there to help stop rain entering the cab. On the flip side, Even with it on and the windshield in-place, you got some good ventilation and it helped evacuate the hot air out of the cab. The material is a little thin, but it did it's job to keep the sun and water out. Water never leaked through the top...I just didn't like that I could see light gaps in all the seams and where there was attachment tabs sewn on. The good part about the thin material is that it folds up really small, so you can stuff the thing in the glove box or some other cubby pretty easily. It adds virtually no height, so that's a plus for shorter garages and/or trailers if height is a concern. (I replaced mine with the Honda Soft-Top and back window, and I have to remove the bows to put the machine in the trailer because they add 3 inches of height.) I did not trailer with it because it wasn't taunt as say, my Honda soft-top with the bows, so I never wanted to risk it ripping off. And I as stated earlier, I could see gaps where the attachments were sewn on, so I feared that it would rip if the wind pressure was too much.
As far as trees and limbs, I never had an issue. But granted, I don't drive my machine like it's a bull dozer and plow my way through overgrown trees and bushes. I have, on multiple occasions squeezed under low-hanging limbs and never had an issue. Just be mindful of broken-off or pointy ends of limbs and you won't have an issue.
After riding in machine with the hard-top and comparing it the soft-tops I've had....I don't think I'll add a hard top to be honest. They are quite a bit louder and resonate the sound of the engine a lot. If you're wearing a helmet, that may not matter. But I haven't worn a helmet yet, so I like the cab staying as quiet as possible.
As far as installation and removal, do yourself a favor and purchase 4 of the universal Velcro Windshield mounts off of eBay. I used those instead of the hose-clamps that Dragon Fire provided to hold the top on in the four corners. They're easy, and they're fast. You'll pull the top on/off in 5-10 mins. (link below)

Everyone seems to have some strong opinions on the subject, but to each their own. I can see the benefits of the hard top and a soft top so I think everyone just has to pick what's best for them. Those are just the experiences I had with them.
