I've followed the Pioneer closely since 2013. My Grandparents bought the first camo P2 that our local dealer received. I was planning to get a P4, but a divorce got in the way of that. Nonetheless, after lurking on here in the shadows for two years, my day has finally come!

When Honda announced that they'd be coming out with a 1000, my Grandpaw called and reserved the first camo 1000-3 that the dealership was to receive. It came in last week. He had a windshield, roof, and some doors added and it is now ready for pickup. That purchase made available a VERY GENTLY used 700-2! Lucky me! The thing has literally never been off the pasture.

We are going to pick his new 1000 up Saturday morning and I'll be bringing the 700-2 back home with me. Can't wait to start accessorizing. It currently has a hard roof and the two piece windshield.

Question, I have to haul it about 120 miles back to my house. Will the windshield and roof be ok at highway speeds? I think so, just wanted to check....

Just looked back. I posted a pic of the 700-2 on the day it was brought home in October of 2013 in the "Share Your Honda Pioneer 700 Photos" post #14.

I'll throw some more pics of both machines up this weekend.

congratulations.

Is Grandpaw going to fuss about the way you treat the 700?

Haha, I'll probably be a little tougher on it than him, but plan to take care of it. It'll have to last til he gets tired of the 1000 at least!

It makes a trip around the pasture daily to check on cattle. Then a couple of trips to the barn and back. All on grass. Never been on a trail ride.

I'll mainly use it for recreation and minor work duties around the ponderosa...

We mainly ride strip roads and old logging roads. Nothing to extreme...

Congrats on the ride. As for your trailering question, the roof will be fine on there. I recommend removing the windshield though for two reasons- 1. It will kill your fuel economy if you leave it on and 2. I seem to recall someone did have a problem with the two piece windshield while trailering. Either it cracked or bowed, I don't remember.

My 2 piece windshield bowed in along the top while towing at freeway speeds. I now stick a shower curtain rod between the seat and the windshield to provide extra support while towing. Works great, and super cheap.

Shower curtain rod sounded like a good idea.
I had an extra that we took down in the fall.
Forgot it.
Go figure.
Thanks for the feedback guys.

Took a short ride when we got home. Couldn't be happier with the machine. Hope to add a back panel, maybe doors next winter, wheels, 27 inch Blackwaters, some tunes and maybe a light bar and winch. Can't wait to get started.
