So I’m looking at this quick shield. I own a 2017 P1000-5D. Does this only alleviate the front seat issue? I see nothing that alleviates the heat and dust that comes up through the rear floorboard and affects the passengers in the rear. Am I missing something?

Yup pretty much.
@trigger used my rig to try to take care of that issue. There were too many working parts if you will, to effectively make something to fix that problem. He can elaborate more on this for you.

Yeah like Remmy said, I started making a pattern for the back seating area from his rig. I try to make these as simple as possible for the user to install but that one was getting complicated, too many contours, seams, laps, latches and fasteners under the seats... I kept what I started but it needs further work. Would require the use of push pins and portions of it would be acting as a floor mat. It would end up being a customer service nightmare as some guys have a hard time with the ones I make already, which baffles me bc you can look at it and see how it goes in. Maybe a short mechanical quiz on the order page to eliminate the pain in my a** that it would be?

Just eliminate your rear seat passengers. Problem solved!

Thanks for the explanation. I already have a radiator fan mounted under the seat and one of the original "cabin comfort kits" sold by one of the contributors on this site. It definitely helped but I still have a little heat escaping up front. But since I use my P1000 mainly for an October Wyoming hunt, the small heat loss up front makes for a great hand/glove warmer. But the back is still a big issue. I have all the floorboards and trim off right now to clean up all the mud that's been accumulating between the skid plates and engine and thought it would be a good time to try and do something about the back. I do have some rides planned for next summer so your setup might still be beneficial to me for those rides when I don't need 'hand warmers". It looks like it would be easily removable for my fall trip into the mountains. I know what you mean by the push pins. I've got all the trim off right now and have a big gallon bag ziplock full of push pins. Now let's see how many I have left over when I finish putting all the trim and floorboards back on.
Even though your efforts didn't work out for a commercial product, did you test it enough to see if it worked? Looking for ideas.

I went with the radiator fan instead of the bilge fan

While it’s helped the front tremendously, still issues in the back. Right now I have the floorboards, skid plates, and trim removed. I can really explore where the air is moving. While the radiator fan is moving a lot of air, it seems to get diffused quite a bit before actually reaching the headers. So I’m rethinking the bilge pump vs radiator fan to get a more directed air flow. I’m also thinking about making some kind of shroud/tunnel for the radiator fan to better able to direct it to the headers. Still deciding which route to take.

Thanks, @Muleyhunter. Being a former powerboater, I went with the Attwood bilge fan, as that thing moves some air. You aren't going to get rid of ALL heat with a fan and/or heat shield, but it all helps.

On the Pioneer, I made my own heatshield out of thick, double sided foam/foil stuff (same stuff lots of people use) and Gorilla duct tape (edges), but that was because I didn't know about the Quickshield.

I've only had the (new) Talon out for a single trip to TN not long ago, but after 2 days of wheeling, I can say I will likely add a Quickshield from @trigger. The heat/swamp ass isn't as much of a problem with the Talon as it is with the Pioneer due to engine location, but it should still be an improvement.
