Just wondering what brand of front pads people are going with? Obviously the stock ones don't last too long and I want to go with something else. Here's mine at only 652 miles. I rarely use the brakes and always just downshift. My Polaris stock brakes lasted 2K for comparison. On a positive note these Honda rotors are twice as thick as the ones on my Polaris. I did a quick search and couldn't find any threads on what people are using for replacement. On a separate note the last picture are the pads off the drivers side. The side opposite the piston looks good, but the side with the piston is wore out. Is that normal? Thanks!

Oh, I see. You forgot to rotate your brake pads. Just kidding.

Seriously though, it looks like the slides and pins may need some grease. The caliper and pads need to be able to "float".

Just be careful and don't get any on the pads or rotor!

Haha, I knew I forgot something! But a little grease or anti seize probably wouldn't hurt. There wasn't any "free floating" going on in there. The back brake still had plenty of life left, not fun to get to though...

Ended up just going with the cheap Kevlar ones off amazon at around 15% the cost of OEM. At that price if they only last 100 miles I'll still be better off!

Do you ride in a lot of mud? Mud will wear out your brake pads really fast. I have had very good experiences with OEM pads, but I only have like 150 miles on this machine so I will watch them when I get close to your mileage.

Keep an eye on those aftermarket pads... I don't know how good the ones you bought are, but I put some cheapies on my old quad and they lasted literally one day of riding. lol There was mud involved.

Would be bad to have them wear out on you early on in a ride, and then ruin the rotors.

Yeah it is pretty much all mud all the time. Not deep mud but it rains all the time in lower Alabama and that red clay/sand cakes on everything. I'll keep an eye on them. To be honest I'll be surprised if they last 200 miles.

In that case, getting over 600 miles on the original pads doesn't sound abnormal to me....

Also, if you are going to run cheap pads, it wouldn't be too hard to keep a couple tools and an extra set on your pioneer, just in case you're out riding and they give out completely.

I run in some mud, lots of big puddles with muddy water.
I replaced mine at 700 miles, they were plum gone, metal to metal.
I bought EDC? I have almost 1,300 so I reckon I should spy them out

Replaced mine this summer at 2200 miles. Found some cheap ones on Amazon. $19 for both.
