2016 with 6800 miles it had a loose connection at the battery. I just replace the battery.

Yeah, it’s not an awesome dealership. I haven’t had any good luck with their diagnostics there the last time I had a major problem had to get a shop manual and figure it out myself I had wires that were broken. They were the connection to the fuel injector they kept it a month and still couldn’t fix it.

The gearshift indicator is still blinking. Does it need to be reset or will it reset itself

It sounded like you had the issue fixed with the battery replacement.

Check the ground on the engine if the issue is still there.

I tried to reset the code and it just comes right back the gear indicator, blinking and I checked the ground and it was tight. It shifts OK now and the last time I did it it shifted OK for a couple of months and then all of a sudden it started messing up and wouldn’t shift right anymore

Howdy and welcome from Northern Iowa.
.
Here is a link to another thread that the owner also ended up having a code 73.
Maybe the information in it will help you.
He doesn't find the code until about post #10.
.
Have a good day

I haven't looked at the above thread but hopefully they can shed some light on it. Attached is the info from service manual. If you want you can be come a supporting member and have access to the manual under resources above. Someone gifted me a membership a few years back and it has been a great tool. Hopefully you can get it figured out.

There is also a section in the manual about reading old codes and resetting them. Maybe that will do the trick. I believe you can just use a jumper wire but I actually bought a wire with the connector from the club store above. I haven't had to use it but have it in my tool kit if I need it.
