While I am waiting for my new steering wheel I am working on the changes to my cab lighting. The LED strip took some damage when the buggy got rolled so I decided to change it up some.

I purchased the following parts...

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01MG5VZYV/?tag=sxsweb24-20

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0711M25K9/?tag=sxsweb24-20

Amazon.com: pam 4 relay

I am making brackets for the two doors to hold the plunger type switches. The small programmable timer relay will be set up to turn on the lights when either door is open and go off when the door is closed. The timer portion will allow for automatically shutting off the lights if the door is left open. To reset after the timer times out, just close the door. The circuit is powered from the battery through a seperate fuse. Always available.

Ok... I just did not like the exposed steering shaft. So I found that the plastic intake duct that I removed while relocating my air intake fits that adapter perfectly! So I cut a piece to length... put a little glue on the adapter and slide it on... now that area is covered and even the section of tube had a honda logo on it! Sweet!

I am almost back to whole after my buggy got rolled... One thing that failed, suprisingly, was one of the quick connects that taps the key on circuit to send voltage to my dash battery meter. I have it temporarily yellow wire nutted in the picture. Not a critical item but I was surprised. I will work the repair in to the door switch wiring. I guess I am back to taking all the plastic off again and running a few hot wires back to under the seat. Blah.

I had a change of heart on the door switch I wanted to use for the interior light system. I went with a magnetic switch...

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0762FJ8P6/?tag=sxsweb24-20

The install looks neat and flush. I drilled a 3/4” hole in the door and the seat base. A little black RTV holds them securely. I was a little worried about the gap distance and if the magnet would be strong enough, but it appears to work correctly. If there is any issue in use, I can add a shim to the magnet on the door side to bring it closer to the contact.

I had some time to mock up my circuit on my bench and it works as desired. I had to add a resistor to drop the current for the proximity switches... other than that, everything was fine. Here are a few videos to demonstrate the function...

Pulled my doors to do the interior light changes and thought I’d look at why the left side was rattling while the right side was not... one of the right side hinges was deformed and slightly squished while the other three were the same. When I straightened it, it was loose like the other three. All four had this interior dimension...

FE371454 249F 48F7 8BFB 2F424CDE56FE EEC7C536 3ACA 44D8 BD35 CC1D43383940 B5031954 59FD 4989 99AE 322499937753

2.3520-2.3120 = 0.04 too loose.

So I purchased these and will install when I get them. Way more simple than cutting new door inserts and replaceable if needed.

Attached the four 3-led pods under the seat and taped up the loose wires. Pods are flat enough to fit with no interference and gives off alot of light...

Looks amazing.

Now to answer your wife's question...…..
Tell her that hobbies are just like the proverbial glass.
Most people want to know if the glass is half empty or half full.
My answer to both questions is...….

THERE IS ALWAYS ROOM FOR MORE!!!!!!

Here is a pic with the 4 light pods on... looks like it should be enough to get in while it is dark without having to tie in the overhead led strip to the door control system... since it is on a switch, I will probably leave it...

Got my door hinge washers installed... worked out perfect! Drilled the center hole out to the size of the hinge pin and slid them in. Now the door is tight and does not flop around. A cheap investment to fix a silly problem. Plus it keeps the original parts in case something happens to the door/hinge.

Had a few minutes with a soldering iron to get it all in the little box. Fits but barely.

When this weather finally breaks, I will get it installed.
