The only time I've ridden in the Elk City area with a side by side was 2 yrs ago when we did the Magruder. I had the Viking then. I've ridden all over from the south fork side on my Rancher, but never from the Riggins side. I think a ride up to Gospel Hump would be a kick in the butt though!

If you're gonna explore the South Fork side, I think one of the best places to base out of would be Mud Springs. The owner has two cabins, and rents them for really reasonable rates. It's on the Elk City side of Newsome on the Wagon road, but not too far in. It'd be close enough to ride the Wagon road either way, to run across the road & roll up past Orogrande to Buffalo Hump, or Dixie. A couple miles west and you can take Sour Dough all the way into the lookout (super cool ride) or ride all the way up Silver Leggit to the top.. Lots of excellent riding up there.

Looked at this place today. Off grid 10 acres with lots of hydroelectric possibilities.. It has a propane generator one bedroom one bathroom two car garage and backs up to 22,000 acres of national forest lands. Seller has a picture of grizzly in front of cabin and I saw two big does.

Holy crap that’s a beautiful place!! Love the setting hopefully there’s room for the bus next to that awesome creek!
Bears will be big up there, my rule of thumb is 2 pounds heavier for every mile north

You've found utopia I think. Make sure you have a water source nearby for the winter and that the roads will be open at least sometimes during snowy weather, and I don't know what else you need. The lack of electric can be solved in several ways, and then you're the envy of the male world. I notice that there are no car/truck tracks leading in and out of the garage which has me wondering a bit. I think you've already given a lot of thought to your alternatives, and I'm sure we'll all be interested in your exciting experience. Enjoy! I only wish I were young enough, and had the balls, to set out on such a venture myself.

Looks good man! We looked up there at a couple places, but the additional 30+ miles just made the trek too far. Definitely looks like a cool spot though.. and not far from the hwy either. Private, yet not TOO far out. I dig it!

Made an offer on this today. All the pix are on my other device and my signal is too weak for Airdrop. All I can load right now is the main picture and stove. 3.86 acres bordering 1000’s of acres of Kaniksu NF. New built 2 bed one bath, nearly complete steel house with attached shop. Plus 10x20 outbuilding. Well. Brand new 480 Kitchen Queen cookstove with hot water reservoir. Fat year round creek, solar array etc etc etc...cell-only 3G and phone coverage suck but it’s pretty much everything I’ve been looking for and has tons of potential.

Boundary. They want 20k more than my offer and will not budge. Also it is a bit far out with nearly no cell service, no land line and 2.8 miles from county rd. Access to outside world is extremely limited...if SHTF then great, but until then, it’d get lonely.

20k more for everything you’ve always wantedo_O I say go for it! Sometimes you have to pay a little more for what you want, come to terms with that fact and you are going to be a very happy man! If you do decide to purchase be very careful walking out your second floor patio doors, there looks to be a little of a drop;)

We used to have some wild parties in your neck o’ the woods. Grew up in Temple Terrace Fla

Nice, bet it’s changed a lot. We live in Thonotosassa. Grew up in Michigan then 20 years in AZ, 15 years in San Diego and moved to FL 3.5 years ago. Although never home because I work in Europe.....

I see what you mean.. there is no straight shot over to H95.. I see where you're coming from on your offer honestly. The home isn't totally finished, is on 3.86 acres.. I would think your offer would be pretty close, but property in N Idaho has been coming back up. Even that far north.
Is there a reason you're looking that far north? Have you found anything closer to Sandpoint? Maybe outside Sagle?
