Hi there,
I am looking to get a pioneer 500 and was wondering if there was any benefit of getting a 2019 versus a 2018? I am also looking at putting 27” ripsaws all the way around on 14” 5+2 rims. Will this keep the width at 50 for trails and if not, why not use a 4+3 offset? Thanks for the info!

There is no difference in a 2018 vs 2019 besides color choice. You could get a better price on a leftover 2018 !

5+2 will be over 50" and the 4+3 would be a good choice , it would provide more stability being that you are moving up in height with the taller tires.

If I go 4+3, any pro/con to wheel spacers? Size spacers? Thanks

If I was running 4+3 wheels , I wouldn't bother with spacers , but it wouldn't hurt if you did.

I am running 26" tires with 5+2 wheels , 1.00" spacer up front and 1 1/2" spacers in the rear. This setup feels pretty stable to me.

I would ditch the anti-sway bar after you get to know the machine a little better. After you feel comfortable with the machine , I say ditch it!

I also feel that if you ride within the limit's of this machine , you should feel pretty comfortable with it. If you are one that drives on the "crazy side" you will most likely flop it on its side eventually!

My understanding is the difference between between 5+2 and the 4+3 is that the wheel will sit one inch wider out from the mounting point. If that is true, then using the 4+3 is equal to using the 5+2 with 1” spacers? Sorry if the questions seem dumb, but just wrapping my head around this subject! Thanks!

That is correct!

14 inch 5-2 rims with 27 bighorn style tires run 54 inches wide on my 2017.

I'm running 14x7, 4+3 in front with 9" wide tires and 14x8, 4+4 in rear with 11" tires and my width measures 56" in front and 58" in back. Using 5+2 wheels should knock 2" front and 4" rear off those measurements, but best to measure. Individual tires at different pressures will likely measure different.

Problem with 27's on a P5 that size will start stealing power. I stayed with 25 Ripsaws for that very reason but then again here in Colorado we deal with power robbing altitude.

I agree with the above. I put 26" Roctanes (9 front & 11 rear) on the stock rims. That's about the max diameter I'd want to put on the P5 for the general riding I do. I have 1" spacers front and back. The tires are ALOT bigger than stock and look appropriately sized for the machine. The Roctanes are a heavier tire, but that's what I need for the brutal shot-rock that I ride on 70% of the time. What I dislike is getting flats that I can't plug in the field. It's always doable to ride back on a flat tire... but you can severely wear or ruin a tire depending on the miles you need to do. There is no 'right' combination of tires, wheels and spacers. Whatever you get will be awesome!

X2 on getting a holdover, both of my pioneers were holdover units and I got a better deal on the purchase price because everyone wants that newest model year even though they are exactly the same typically.
