An update. Chief has lost a lot of weight and is down to 10 pounds. He has a few things going on that we (me and the veterinary $pecial$t$) are concerned about. Likely stomach cancer that may have impacted the liver and pancreas.

Bloodwork today and some biopsies likely next week or the week after.

Meet Chief (full name of Chief Ouray - named after the famous Chief of the Ute Indian tribe who promoted peace). Chief is a full blooded Manx with no tail (naturally). He's a big boy at 17 pounds, but his dad was 29 pounds. He now lives the life I wouldn't mind having ... he gets fed, somebody cleans up after him, and he has his own screened in porch (of my two indoor cats he is the only one that has figured out the cat door)

Sorry bud. Fur critters have replaced children in our house as they’ve grown. We’ve got three dogs and several “farm” cats. Great to come to. They are always happy to see you.

Thanks guys. It’s a bit ugly but in some ways he is turning a corner though I don’t want to get my hopes up. He is eating now but only boiled shrimp .... the things we do for critters ....

Sorry to hear about chief, hope all goes well. They are family. We do what we can to keep our friends from pain and stuffing .Your In our thoughts.

Saturday update on Chief ...

Got the pathology reports (90% of them) late yesterday. No cancer but he’s not out of the woods yet.

He has started eating but his liver was beginning to shut down because he wasn’t eating. After several conversations with multiple vets, he got a feeding tube today that will be a very temporary thing but will help us get him nourishment. He air a happy camper but the prognosis is very good.

Got me a new riding buddy, took me over a 1 1/2 Years to find a replacement for Sage our 14 year old boxer, weird part about this, Sadie could pass to be her twin in looks and in personality. Glad I was pickey and waited on the right one.

Need some prayers for Jake. A few of you met Tracy and her dog Jake at Takeover.

He was jumped on Sunday by two pit bull mixes. He survived the initial attack and ran the 400 yards home and he came through the initial surgery OK. His injuries were massive but all superficial (meaning the body cavity and anatomical structure were not compromised).

Unfortunately he is undergoing surgery again today because the tissue that was sewn together on Sunday is now dying. The wounds will have to be opened and allowed to heal - slowly - as open wounds.
