I noticed on the members map that many of our members are going to be affected by Hurricane Florence. Having gone thru this multiple times I understand what you are going to have to endure. Our hearts go out to you and you are in our thoughts and prayers. Stay safe.

Dido - this looks to be no fun and and a hurricane that will have an impact for a while if it dumps as much rain as they are forecasting.

Prepare for the worst, hope for the best. If under evacuation orders, take important documents, sensitive financial records, and take photos of household belongings, refrigerated food, etc, ..in case insurance claims may be needed. Would not doubt there are some Looters now a days that would take advantage of info for ID theft.

Our vacation (Hilton Head) was cut short. We had to leave 2 days early. This was a mandatory evacuation. Sucks we had to leave but would much rather be safe than sorry !

I work for pike we are sending 100s there I am on a transmission construction crew .many of our distribution guys will be there and a lot of transmission guys. I have seen the destruction and much worse on these stormsthere is nothing that's harder to see than people who have lost every thing. The stories I could tell.

Working for the TVA, saw terrible destruction and power outages with tornados of April 2011. Loss of electricity .. not good.

Tornados that come at night are the worst when we rebuilt the H frame line in Albany GA after tornadoes last year it was heartbreaking to see people with just the clothes on their backs wandering around.

My daughter and husband are in Leland, NC which is just outside Wilmington... she's got everything packed and waiting on husband to get off work from the Port so they can head out tonight... they were going to come out in October for vacation but have moved it to this week due to the hurricane.

Got gas in the Honda, gas cans full, chain saw ready, generator ready, batteries, flash lights, food... all im missing is a trip to the ABC store and im set.

Just hoping my snorkel is good and tight. we had water in the back yard from Matthew and that was only 7-8" of rain.

In NC you can only buy hard liquor from the Alcoholic Beverage Control designated outlets. We used to call it Aunt bertha's cafe or American beauty College. Real eye-opener to move out west to see it everywhere.

I agree, I miss my bojangles ... made @Tigermark stop there for his first time when we went to last year Overland.
