First post... Thank you to all who share their comments here and have given me some direction on my build. I am not mechanical! I am not worthy to be on here... but I am learning.

I wanted to finally build out my 2016 Pioneer 1000-5. After putting together the list of upgrades... I shifted gears, sold the 2016, and bought a 2018 1000-5 LE to upgrade instead. This cost me about $3,500 between the two. I felt that was worth the investment before I added accessories to the machine.

I picked her up yesterday and haven't been able to get out yet. But I feel its a good start and I still have a list of items to get going on.

Suspension... I had the dealer install the HCR kit to the front end. This is NOT a lift kit, but displaces the front tires 2" more forward. I also added wheel spacers. This kit is beefy and allows me to run 32" without a lift kit.

(original tires compared to new 32")

I did not want to lift it, just bigger tires. I did not want to compromise on the ride at all. The HCR at $1,100 (painted red) seemed like a good fit for me. We will see. We loaded this down with people, hung of the back, and jumped up and down... so far no rubbing. We will see what the real world has and adjust as needed.

Thank you. I'll give more of a report after this weekend when I go scouting for my hunt here in Colorado. There are 2 others that have this kit installed and they rave about it. We'll see.

Maiden Voyage... Well I took my girls for a little ride yesterday. Put about 30 miles on her is all. First thoughts...

1. Damn that dust! I thought with the covers on, it would at least be a little better. Not so. Those who say its an atv and "just deal with it" or "drive after it rains", does not live in a desert. I was going to purchase a polaris general and decided to stay with the pioneer. My girls sat in the back seat and covered up under blankets the whole time. The vortex is real. It is not just an ATV thing... We took my bro-in-laws general for the weekend in Nevada. We were dusty. Nothing like the pioneer! It literally swirled around on the inside! If you open your mouth, its a fine powder that you breath! We were coughing and covered from head to toe in a matter of minutes. If I drive when it rains, I can drive 4-5 times a year. Needless to say, whether I am a wuss or not, I have to try and fix this or I will most likely sell and get the general. (I KNOW! I dont want to!).

2. The wheels rub like Hell! It first rubbed just driving down the road. Towards the end of the ride, it had worn down a little and was rubbing with bumps and uphills. I had 3 adults and two girls in back (11 yrs and 13 yrs). The back tire is contacting the plastic fender in a few places and the bottom of the back door. I have spoken with the dealer (friend) and we will evaluate and see if we can adjust (I dont think so) or go smaller tires... 31 or 30". Sucks! I dont know if there is a spacer kit or something that would give me a 1/2" or 1" lift without effecting ride quality?

Cont...

Ride quality of the HCR system. Didnt really get a great chance to test it out, but from what I could tell, it felt the same. It did feel like the power steering was tougher? I dont know if this was from larger tires and I just wasnt used to it? First ride I liked it.

I did have some PM's asking for more pics...

The arms are arched in the middle. I like it so far, as long as I can keep a good tire size... that was the purpose.

I just ordered a set of HCR A-arms for my 2020 Pioneer 1000-3! I was wondering if you could truly run a 32inch tire.

He hasn't been around here in a few years, but my advice is "don't do it."

With forward arms, stay with 30s or less. Unless you want to go with serious lift, gear reduction, etc. you're gonna have a bad day with 32s. You saw that he was dismayed by the rubbing first time out.
