School me, in my world of full size off road, gearing in the rocks means alot, more control, break less, less sketch, easier on drive train.

So, I'd like to have a lower low rang. My high is fine, I hear I can just gear the sub trans,
What company , installed by who if I plain don't feel like it..
Help appteciated

Just beginning to look into this myself, would also love a lower reverse. Not sure what I'm gonna do yet.

Jared the guy from TTC has been running it and I think he has a talon on 40'S now, or was going to put 40"s. I like the idea of the lower low with out effecting high range

Not much to it if you’re comfortable pulling the subtrans and cracking it open. You need to grind off some of the case for the gear to fit, so take that into account as well. Probably need to invest in a PV3 and tune too since it will affect the shift points

I have one of the lower lows still in the box I need to install. Since we have the turbo I was debating on going with the other low that only does low. On a non turbo machine lowering the entire gear ratio is not a bad thing really.

I want to do the same along with IGR as well and could care less about top end speed for my style riding. You can take your subtrans out and take it to Adam and he can do it from what I read in about 2 hours if you plan it ahead of time. You can also take the whole machine and he'll do it for a few more $$ or ship it to him. I'm close enough I'll just take it out and take it to him.

I have a friend at work that use’s him for his Talon. He has a complete rework done when he buys a new machine. Swears by him and highly recommends.

Myself i wish my pioneer had a 3 speed.High and low range with a converter like a rincon.
My old 700 never backed down from any rock climbs when I had it. People that never had them don’t understand how good the three speed was. Sucked on the highway though. Wide open ever time on the road but way better than the 500 for climbing I had before it

The subtrans is very easy to take apart and getting it out of the car is the hardest part of the job. I bet most here can do the gear swap themselves in a few hours.

Worse case, you get hung up putting it back together and have to make a post here for a bit of help. Still really not a big deal

Coming from full size, axle gearing is very common, are gear sets a thing or available

Nope. An IGR or the subtrans gear sets are the only things available. Also, numerically higher axle gears are weaker than numerically lower sets due to tooth contact. In the fullsize world a 4.88 axle gear is about as low as you can go without sacrificing strength without moving up to custom 10" gear sets and diffs based on 9" Ford stuff.

I always thought the 700 was underrated. Mine as well always seemed to do what you asked of it. Just a couple of tweaks and the 700 would be great
