P500 Miles vs Hours

Just purchased a new (i think) 2020 P500. Question, instrument panel shows 6 miles, and 44hours. This seems off to me. Could the dealer have pulled the odometer cable? Do the hours accumulate with just the key on, or does the engine have to be running?

Bout to light this dealership up, but thought I would ask the P500 professionals first.

Key on with engine off, will run your hours up.

So..... on my Pioneer 2020 500 I left my key on one night for 36 hours....... almost drained my battery, hours registered miles did not.

I've heard the Talon does the same thing, hour meter runs anytime the key is on, WTH was Honda thinking? 🤔 The only thing that matters is time the engine is running, not when you're listening to the stereo.

For that reason, I added an hour meter for a motorcycle, the lead is 'just' long enough to reach the front plug. Now when I forget the key on (and I will, it's a guy thing), I'll have an accurate hour meter.

Hours meter runs entire time key is on. I had mine showing 30 hours with 6 miles I put on it. Had key on many hours installing accessories and listening to sound bar.

Nothing to be concerned about other than making sure battery is fully charged.

On the new 2021 450 dirtbikes, the ecm has an internal meter we can read with our MCS.

Wish they would do more stuff like this on more models.
