I tried some different things with the blacklight whips i made last night

These caps fit 1/2 sch 40 pvc perfectly

I got this to test the larger sizes and learned that 30mm heat shrink wraps over the wiring nicely and seals up around the top cap/top of the clear heatshrink, and 20mm fits the bare pvc nicely to hide the white at the bottom better than painting it if you put it on first.

If using ip65 waterproof led strips this 35mm crazy thick heavy duty heat shrink did a pretty solid job

Thank you for all your information you are super helpful! I appreciate it. I look forward to doing another set. What I made works but it's not as nice as it could have been.

You should see my first couple of attempts haha. I started with trial and error and wasted alot of time and parts tearing them apart and trying better and different things. Only just now learning what works with pvc. Next step is figure out a cheap budget quick disconnect setup. Gonna look into hydraulic hose fittings next

I did round 2 for my whips tonight. Got my new nilight mounts installed and I slightly bent the plate I used to place it slightly back from the ROPS so it had a lean effect to it. We rode into town and trick or treated for a couple hours and rode back. The mounts held up. I like the whips but I am excited to get to redo them and make them better.

How would you keep them from spinning while connected?

It could only spin as far as the secured wire would let it. There wouldn't be any force on it trying to actively twist it around I dont think

1st attempt so far so good. Hope they look alright when connected to my whip. 4 6" bars for over each tire and the 12" for behind the grill.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO I totally missed this link, DO NOT USE THAT QUICK RELEASE!!!

The external wings bend if any force gets applied to it... I left those vise grips holding it like that for 6 months before i just recently took it off and bolted my whip straight to the rack.

Try this one instead

I just ordered the bases you recommended. I will return the tram bases to Amazon. Do you know of a better mount than the nilight mounts? Mine seem like they still move under load like they bounce on the bolts and I feel they will break again.

Where did you find the clear tube for the rock lights? Do you have a picture of them installed to see how bright they are compared to like the single led mounts.
These i made inside a tube i already had from a few years ago. We bought some cheap ebay whips for our 3 4 wheelers we were running at the time. Just to be a bit flashier than a bike flag the park required for entry.

End caps

I have this tube coming in today to see if it will work too for another set

I had one of these extension cables from the original whips i built so using 3 of the 4 wires it slips right through my end cap by burning a hole in the center with the soldering iron. Filled both end caps with clear silicone before putting them on to seal everything up

I have no clue how bright they will be on my wheeler yet as i finished making them at 1:30am last night and haven't got to install em yet

Finished up my rock light project. These are all WS2811 12v led's. Not as bright and crisp as the 5v WS2812B strips but i made the rock lights out of garbage scraps just to see how it would do before throwing them away. 123255899 3719116421431787 5278974667594434484 o 123528570 3716718695004893 6788303154308997290 o

Got my new transformer installed. Confirmed my plugs to the whips were getting the correct 5v output from the transformer and plugged in the whips... only one lit up. Come to find out the negative side inside the factory soldered pigtail on the LED strip was never soldered, so the LED's would never have worked. Should have checked them both from the get go.

TL;DR - Check to be sure your LED strips work before building the whips.

Amazon strikes again, new delivery today for the next set to come off my work bench. 35mm Fishing rod grip heat shrink is awesome to add a little texture to the top and bottom and seal everything up.

IP65 waterproof WS2812B Eco strip
35mm Clear Heat Shrink
Running it on a 5v 6amp converter. Seems to do alright so far.
