I snorkeled my p500 tonight. Used 1.5" black abs pipe from lowes. Connected to stock intake pipe with 1.5" rubber coupling. Ran front and rear diff vents up and ran fuel tank vent up. That's where the warning comes in.... If I would have known the fuel tank vents to open air I would have ran it up higher when I got it new. In my opinion, everyone should at least zip tie some filter material around the end of the vent tube if you know you won't be in deeper water. I thought it was attached to a fitting in the frame like the diffs are. I can't believe I haven't gotten water in the tank yet!!! Snorkel turned out great!

looks good, I did my snorkel the same way, and so far so good. On the diff and fuel tank I ran up and put 90 deg fittings so rain or when you wash it off.

Just ran the fan vent up a little. I just zip tied it to the back of the speedo in the dash and put a filter on the end. That raised it a foot or so. And if I'm up to the dash in water, which wouldn't be intentional, the fan will be my least of worries... lol
This is how I filter lines. Just cut my extra Honda air filter and zip tie it to the end of the vent line. I did the fuel tank vent and fan vent.

I've been wanting to do this for a while now. Pretty easy or what? I'll have to shape mine a little different to miss the box. Can you take a side pic?

It's not at the house anymore. But it is simple! You won't have a problem...

I just wish someone would create a list of everything that needs to be vented on the 500, Snorkel 101 or something. I've been kicking around the idea of doing mine, not in the habit of running deep water but after reading some of the horror stories on here...better safe than sorry.
Appears to be a fairly easy and inexpensive mod too.

Ok I talked to several mechanics and they said just put an inline fuel filter on the water pump vent and don't snorkel it. Basically it will allow the pump to let out any excess coolant, and still vent correctly. And if it does suck up water, it will be filtered so it won't hurt it.

Saw the good instructions from Jackal on Resources page. Is the 3/16 plastic barb and hose the same for the P500?

I rode yesterday and felt like my bike lost a little power. Just bought the stuff to make a 2" snorkel. Sounds like it might be starving for air a tiny bit...

Good to know. I've been planning mine out and wondered about reducing it.
Thanks William.

Snorkel 2.0... no pun intended. This should stop my power loss from the 1.5" snorkel. Doesn't fit as well as the small one, but it's not bad. For around $20 y IMG 7588 IMG 7589
