As the title says, I'm in need of a member that lives or has some experience in the area. Want to plan a group ride out that way in late Augest of 2019.

How many days you planning on ridding? It's 14.5 hours from me, probably be driving solo, so will be breaking into two segments probably stay the night in Amarillo. Is traffic better on I 40 West than I 40 East? Tennessee trip was bad from Memphis to Stinking Creek road!

I'm thinking minimum of 4 days riding. I just need to make sure there is enough trails to keep the group busy for that long.

Sounds good. Where are you staying? Looks like a pretty big area.

I'm going to be in our motorhome, but that's what I'm researching. I need to make sure there is plenty of cabins/ rooms for the people that will be needing them.

We lived in Colorado for 15 years but didn't ride that area. About 4 hrs away is a Town called Grant. There's a couple of days riding in that area. Red Cone Pass, Webster Pass, Tiger Creek and Georgia Pass trails all tie together. Not to crowded and you can get up to almost 13000 ft on Red Cone. You will need an OHV sticker no matter where you ride. Mid September is when the Quakies turn. No matter where you guys go up there you'll have a blast.

I'll talk to some of my motor cycle buddies that used to do do cross country trail rides and stay in different towns along the way, don't know if S x S's could cover that many miles in a day or not.

FSTopo is the Forest Service Primary Base Map:
USDA Forest Service FSGeodata Clearinghouse - FSTopo Map Products

Pagosa Springs is surrounded by the San Juan NF.
Motor Vehicle Use Maps (MVUM's) for San Juan National Forest can be found here:

San Juan National Forest - Maps & Publications

And the Rio Grande National Forest is nearby:
Rio Grande National Forest - Projects

There is a lot to view here, good luck!:)

BTW: The MVUM's come in pdf. format and can be put on a smart phone for viewing while riding, of course.
