Picked up a 1962 Ford Falcon Futura, two door post. 170 special 6 cylinder, automatic with 76K miles.

The plan is to use it for short road trips, Sunday driver, fair weather cruising, and work on replacing various components and eventually body work.

I already located the original hub caps and got them on it. May do the disc brake conversion eventually.

It starts and runs good. I took it on its first trip to town, about a 45 mile round trip.

I agree, upgrade that ignition as well. No need for points unless tour going to show it to keep it 100% original. I changed the points out to electronic in my 48’ 8N and was the best thing i ever did. Much better especially in cold starts.

Well chit Monte! Thats a bummer! Glad it didnt turn into something worse.
Thanks Remi....
You’re right, I was lucky that it happened in dense traffic during morning rush at 15 mph and the car wasn’t harmed and I only had to go 1 mile and there was a Discount Tire, Advanced Auto Parts and a mechanics shop all together which had all I needed to get back on the road...🤞

Agreed, I want to keep it aesthetically stock, but I also want to use it so safety and dependability is important. It’s not clean enough for show, and that’s not why I bought it at any rate. But it’s in nice shape...here’s some interior pics...

I figured when I saw that car that you were trying to relive some hot memories from youth ..... like Clinton’s el Camino with the astroturf ...... or my old 66 GTO......
Keep the points..... ask @100Acre ....: EMP is coming and we need some vintage stuff that will still run....

If I replace the distributor with electronic, I’ll still keep the original. I know what Danny boy has to say about EMP’s, been hearing that since I was very young. I think it would be moot....🤣

Get you another GTO and relive the good ole days....😍😍😂

Ordered nearly everything external to the motor under the hood that I could think of. Voltage regulator, coil, starter, fuel pump, belts, hoses, wires, plugs, radiator cap, etc...All for $200.00 bucks at Parts Geek...

Ahhhhh - those are the days. Days when you could cram several dead bodies in the trunk and still have room to go get groceries :p

😂😂
I don’t have that need, but two big suitcases laid in there for a road trip to Silver City, Ruidoso or Santa Fe will be snazzy.....😍

I saved the old distributor out of my 72 Bronco. Just in case. LOL.
