For those interested in the updated parts available. Installed my first set today, haven't got the unit back together yet to test.
New part on top. Shaft has been bored out as well, supposed to let oil escape from between it and the case better when cold.
I wouldn't put any sub trans together without these new parts.

Shaft 24210-HL4-010
Star 24331-HL4-010

It’s a bit hard to tell in the pic but it looks like it might be case hardened too?

Dose the old shaft have a flat on the bottom end (as seen in the picture)?
So the gun drilled hole replaces a flat milled in the rod.

Yes, the flat was suppose to let oil out from behind the shaft, but apparently it wasnt enough. The drilled shaft lets more out, especially when cold to help ease shifting into low gear.

Btw, isn’t there more updated parts in the subtrans than just the star and shaft?

Some 2021 model Talons and Pioneers may have come with these 2 parts.

These are supposed to be the low gear fix for popping out or grinding.

The 2022 models have these parts as well as multiple other new parts as well for both the Pioneer and Talon. Som shared, some not.
I guess I either have to pay the dealer to install those updated parts or wait till I have failure and get them replaced under warranty????

As far as I know, yes. It seems Honda is paying to have them installed with a sub trans warranty repair.
But the tech at my dealer tells me only if there’s actual failure, not as a preventative measure….if I understand it correctly.
